Yep, I am blind for disagreeing with Bud when he says Christians are slaves to sin.![]()
"For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not." (Romans 7:18)
Jesus: "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.” (John 8:34)
"Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him." (1 John 3:6)
"Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)
Do you commit sin? Do you "practice" sin since you sin daily?
Your FLESH is a slave to sin and cannot change.
"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (Romans 8:7)
What is sin? Transgression of the Law. Every time you commit a sin, you are guilty in the flesh of breaking every single one of God's Laws. (James 2:10)
Are we New Creatures? Yes. Are we to walk in the newness of that life? Yes. Are we to live a life pleasing to the Lord? Yes. But because we still have the "Old Man" we will continue to sin until the die we die and there is no stopping it.
"I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man (New Nature): But I see another law in my members, (Old Nature) warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members" (Romans 7:21-22)
Your flesh is a captive (slave) to sin. Deny it all you want, but if that were not true, you would be able one day to stop sinning entirely.
But you won't. because you can't.
IM BAAAACK! Return of the gypsy!
Biggest comeback of 2019, bigger than the comeback George Foreman did by winning the heavyweight boxing championship at 45!
Do you take away obedience from the WORD of TRUTH, the gospel of our salvation and replace it with man made or taught doctrines?
Would you rather believe the FALSE prophets who have gone out to deceive? Are you a willing party to this deception?
Again, I do believe that no deceiver will teach obedience to God and it is very clear and evident in the garden of Eden and is equally proven by God's command from the beginning which is to LOVE GOD by loving one another and this is LOVE; that we WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS.
NIV1984 1 John 2:3-6
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
God bless.
How's my grace doing, um our grace, well anyway, doctrinally, I would like to understand positional sanctification, from the most basic understanding, and step by step toward deeper understanding, onto the true milk and the cornerstone of thy foundationThe person who is obedient to God accepts His gift of salvation on His terms
Feeling refreshed, learned lessons. Not 45 quite yet! What brings you back?
[glad to see you back, btw, lol... Did you recently celebrate your 45th birthday?? ha]
How's my grace doing, um our grace, well anyway, doctrinally, I would like to understand positional sanctification, from the most basic understanding, and step by step toward deeper understanding, onto the true milk and the cornerstone of thy foundation
I highly suspect that the majority of confusion revolve around "positional sanctification" and this topic justifies a thread, and I hope that on that thread everyone can express there opinion with civility, wisdom, balanced demeanour, love, respect and with Grace.
In loving grace,

This can surely explain why testimonies are the most powerful and in all my cc.com experience, my testimony > all my other comments combinedAs well.....
I believe that sanctification is an event first where we are separated unto Christ (our position) and made holy once and for all, and then it’s a process where we learn to live out of that position of holiness.
The process does not sanctify us, it teaches us how to live a sanctified life.![]()
Hebrews 12:2 - focus on Jesus, not on weaknessExcellent proposition!!
“By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10, NASB 1995).
Sanctified ...means set apart
Justified - placed securely in Christ
Sanctified - set apart in Christ
Our life is now hidden in Christ. (Col 3:3)
We are partakers of His divine nature, a precious gift (2Peter 1:4)
Sanctification is not a process of becoming holy (set apart). Only Jesus is holy.
Sanctification is a process of discovering and uncovering His holiness already accomplished and given to us in union with Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2 - focus on Jesus, not on weakness
This can surely explain why testimonies are the most powerful and in all my cc.com experience, my testimony > all my other comments combined
And to be thankful for salvation, not just for assurance (or assurance apologetics = the only apologetics I care about) but there is a lot to learn about the day of salvation, as I also start to believe that, the testimony is underutilized
.

I think they are talking about the nature of heaven, righteousness, and the nature of the flesh, sin.
This is a gnostic split, where they fight in us for dominance, and the gnostics believe a perfect spirit
fights with an evil flesh which at the resurrection is replaced with an eternal flesh, which means sin
is removed from our lives. In this view, we are slaves to sin because we have a body, not because we
are slaves to sin.
Those who have addictive personalities, are attracted to this theology, because they feel the addiction
is not part of them, and functions against their will, so is the flesh, and their desire to be different is
the perfect Spirit fighting. If the addiction is conquered and goes away, then this is a problem because
the flesh is always present. Then how do they explain none addictive people who walk in the Lord.
