Did Paul say that Christians are free from sin? (yes, Romans 6:18 and 6:22)
Apparently, you, DC, and Undergrace (the ones who liked your funny post) have not been reading your Bible.
And apparently you have no concept of the Two Natures. But, you and ignorance go hand-in-hand.

Love chooses to share, and calls to others to show their concern and desire for the lost.
In a way, love, God, calls us to partake in His will and His expression of grace to others.
So God complained to Moses about Israel, so Moses could respond with why keeping them
as His people fulfilled His will. Love desires this conversation with itself, and to have all
participate. So Jesus spoke with Elijah and Moses on the mount of transfiguration, because
this is a will shared. It seems this is the nature of love, so we participate in prayer to God and
He echoes His heart to us, and to the elect who He is calling.
Once you separate God from this conversation and Him calling us to become part of this in
the Kingdom, people miss who the people of God actually are. We are co-heirs with Christ,
servants of the church and servants of the Lord.
I think they are talking about the nature of heaven, righteousness, and the nature of the flesh, sin.
This is a gnostic split, where they fight in us for dominance, and the gnostics believe a perfect spirit
fights with an evil flesh which at the resurrection is replaced with an eternal flesh, which means sin
is removed from our lives. In this view, we are slaves to sin because we have a body, not because we
are slaves to sin.
Those who have addictive personalities, are attracted to this theology, because they feel the addiction
is not part of them, and functions against their will, so is the flesh, and their desire to be different is
the perfect Spirit fighting. If the addiction is conquered and goes away, then this is a problem because
the flesh is always present. Then how do they explain none addictive people who walk in the Lord.

What is essential is "which one does the Christian walk in?
With the flesh, sin is served, in the Spirit, righteousness is served. That's why Paul said "mortify the deeds of the flesh that you may live.

I have not been reading all the posts on this thread, but life is lived moment by moment so it would seem that there can be some variance on how well we walk in the Spirit...seems like common sense to me.
This is why the scripture is filled with exhortations ...right?

Sorry, but it does not work to well actually...if anything it hurts the eyes and has no effect on the ears.
But you and Bud seem to be saying that we are slaves to sin. We are not slaves to sin. WE have been redeemed by the Blood of Christ. Sin has no more dominion over us, and Christ died to destroy the works of the flesh, and we are called to put to death the works of the flesh. NO room for saying that Christians are slaves to sin
Bud's doctrine is very close to the doctrine that is warned against in the first epistle of John.

You either are walking after the flesh or after the Spirit. You cannot say, I am serving sin in my flesh and righteousness in my Spirit at the same time. That smacks of Gnosticism. We are called to mortify the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13), not give them quarter.
When you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
Examine Bud's doctrine in the Light of the Scripture, and you will find it is a perversion.

To me the whole problem is that most people do not define "their terms" and then people talk past each other.
So what so you mean by "slave to sin"
What we are called to do and what believers actually do can be/ not always/but sometimes, very separate.
