He peddles that creed like a sale at Walmart.......the bible is the only rule of faith and practice...........there is no need of some creed written centuries after the word of God was completed and being passed around the churches......it is ridiculous.....

Those Creeds may have been useful most people in the world were illiterate, so that they needed to be told what was in the Bible.

You assumed that I actually meant that those who compartmentalize sin away into the MISTAKE grouping is funny.....I was being sarcastic....
apparently, I sinned (fall short and miss the mark) in the understanding department

no one's perfect, even though we strive to be

Or you knew exactly what he was saying and was just trying to get at me with the " that's not funny" thing. You know since I didn't like your joke the other night...

I myself am not above reproach so I'll go ahead and admit that I may have made a "mistake" by calling sin just a mistake. But I'm still not asking you because I would probably just end up more confused...Although, I did think your emoji list was kind of funny....lol:rolleyes:

or, maybe I have a way to "improvise" in such a way as to get back on topic
using whatever I can use

just like in a battle or spiritual warfare, truth vs deception
use whatever you can get your hands on,

let's swing our sword

What are you alluding to here, spell it out?
apparently, I keep thinking that repentance is a verb, an action

yet you mentioned, a change of mind
why do I keep thinking that repentance involves methods, strategies and techniques
what am I still misunderstanding?

I am not sure what you are thinking actually, you confuse me sometimes :) but...repentance is an action.

To repent is to have a change of mind and heart, the whole person about our utter failure to enter into heaven by our own works because we all fall short of God's standard.

It has nothing to do with "self" as in methods, strategies and techniques.

Maybe???

But be careful with that sword...It's double edged so one needs to be skilled while swinging it...Believe me I know, I've cut myself a many of times with it....just saying.

It's not to be used to try to kill people, but to try to help others. We do that by discussing it and reasoning with others and just putting it out there...not just attacking and stabbing them with it because you can be assured if that's how you are using it, then you are no doubt going to get cut with it yourself.

Ok enough about that...back to your regularly scheduled program.

Sorry....don't buy it....Paul preached to the known world, turned the world upside down and the gospel was spread by word of mouth, witnessing and the church letters were passed around between the churches.....the creeds were not written until some 200 to 500 years after the completion of the word of God.....

I hear ya....mostly it is directed at the sinless perfectionists.........
if I didn't know any better, I think they are probably new age, thinking they can become "god" or something, just because no matter how we try to remove flaws from ourselves, we will still have flaws we overlooked

but more seriously, these flaws are sin in God's holy eyes (who can't even stand to look at iniquity)

thankfully there's over 25 000 manuscripts, that's as consistent as if they were just replicated just 40 years after the event of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.

so consistent, that if anyone doubt how the manuscript is accurate translation, I'd be surprised that anyone would even doubt that

200 to 500 is way after 40 years
if my math is correct, that's like 5x to at least 10x later

say for example, I've been stealing cookies from a cookie jar

what would repentance be like for this situation (as a concrete example to help make it clear)

May I suggest to you that the way to live a victorious Christian life is not to be always sin conscious but to be Christ conscious, we are new creations in Christ that is the focus of the born again believer that brings the ability to overcome.

There is a saying.... victory comes, in being absolutely and completely persuaded of who one is in Jesus. WE are partakers of His divine nature. 2 Peter 1

Repentance for every sin comes dangerously close to a works mind set and will pull your eyes back onto your self and not Jesus.

Sin confession it to agree with God, He is the one and only source of victory.

this is surely an eye-opener, I can't believe I'm about to unwittingly fall in a trap which starts from misunderstanding

Satan, get thee behind me, and shut the **** up

We confess sins as part of our fellowship with God. But sin confession is not the path to holiness, our life in Jesus is what makes us holy.
