Here are 2 sections of scripture talking about works and grace through faith. Both need to be considered when discussing these issues. Note that James says he will show you his faith by his works (deeds).
James 2 NIV
Faith and Deeds
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
Ephesians 2 NIV
Made Alive in Christ
1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
LOL, I could have said Noah built the Ark on a valley floor and you would have said the same thing.
The point of the post is correct and you know it. "22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he."
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
I believe It rained 16 inches in two hours in Houston in 2016. It can't imagine the flash flood that would have come down the valleys in a mountainous region with only this amount of rain. 40 days and 40 night would have been unimaginable. I only makes sense to build the Ark on a High plateau somewhere. But there is no direct indication of where it was built. Only that he followed God's instructions.
Amen! We are saved by grace through faith, not works (Ephesians 2:8,9).
In James 2:20, "faith without works is dead" does not mean that faith is dead until it produces works and then it becomes a living faith or that works are the source of life in faith. That's like saying a tree is dead until it produces fruit and then it becomes a living tree and the fruit is the source of life in the tree. James is simply saying faith that is not accompanied by evidential works is dead. If someone says-claims he has faith (James 2:14) but lacks resulting evidential works, then he has an empty profession of faith/dead faith and not authentic faith.
James is discussing the evidence of faith (says-claims to have faith but has no works/I will show you my faith by my works - James 2:14-18), not the initial act of being accounted as righteous with God (Romans 4:2-3).
Faith is the root of salvation and works are the fruit. No fruit at all demonstrates there is no root.
romans 4
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
^^^^^^
what does this verse mean to those who believe we are justified by works?
<><.t.><>
I got some LIGHT that I have read before, however in today's Sermon, I got it's full meaning.
Romans 3:26-27 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.
Now that was the way Pastor Gil taught it, right from the NASB. I was Pretty Sure what it meant, that supports SALVATION BY GRACE, through FAITH. So when I got home, I looked it up in the NCV, NOW look at it in the NEW CENTURY VERSION:
Romans 3:26-27 (NCV)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] And God gave Jesus to show today that he does what is right. God did this so he could judge rightly and so he could make right any person who has faith in Jesus.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] So do we have a reason to brag about ourselves? No! And why not? It is the way of faith that stops all bragging, not the way of trying to obey the law.
One more nail in the false doctrine of works righteousness coffin.

Jesus was clear, Paul was clear....Faith plus works to gain, keep or maintain salvation in any form or fashion = the plenteous in number grouping that does not make the final cut regardless of any and all religions that peddle works or some faux law keeping drivel!
