seems like a shame tactic to me
also seems like he is trying to elevate his "level" of church ministry
this is a thread to give Jesus the glory for salvation
anything less than glory to self "by works" will not suffice if one doesnt trust in the sacrifice of Jesus to save

So here on cc, you show patience, endurance, self control, love understanding.
As an example to others to likewise follow.
So equally in the church, church leaders are called to
set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

What is amazing, and I have to say amazing, is the number of comments spoken as if
no one is to set an example, and to suggest such a thing, which scripture calls us all to,
is wrong.
Now truly, all who speak like this, do you know they speak against the Lord and His ways.
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

This is a difficult thing to understand, and to envision, until you see Jesus and His example.
Humbleness, meekness, appropriateness, love, care, support, patience, kindness, self control,
endurance, perseverance, fellowship, sharing, teaching, sacrifice, faith, prayer, giving, receiving,
listening, gentleness, purity, service.
None of these things we are incapable of doing, or walking in. Unless ofcourse one dismisses
even considering following Jesus at all as an exercise in proving yourself to God, rather than actually
recognising this is "the way" to life and the Father.
Now to those who do not want to follow Christs example and call yourselves christians, the reason
why believers were called follows of "the way", because this is what Christ called us to do. Amen.
To brothers and sisters in Christ, our example is Jesus, our guide is His word, and the Holy Spirit,
so Amen, and Praise the Lord.

Our leaders are called to be examples of a good christian walk.
Are you denying this?
Are you suggesting to even suggest there is such a thing a righteousness and holiness,
living above reproach is something no-one needs to do, let alone the leadership is evil?
So the church you wish to follow is spiritually and morally bankcrupt, before one has
even begun.
Jesus says this about the fate of such churches and leadership
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

I disagree. The church has many heros.
One I love especially is Stephen, sacrificing his life as a witness to Jesus.
He saw the pharisees with their wealth, influence, biblical knowledge all failing to
recognising their Lord and King in their midst. He saw the emptiness of supporting
the whole structure and its bankcruptcy, rather wanting to choose to witness of
the King of Kings, even if it cost His life. I will put him on a pedastool.
Or Moses, the humblest of men, who stood between judgement and a sinful rebellious
people, who God would have destroyed, if he had not intervened.
Or Wesley, who found purity, holiness, and love in Christ, and changed a nation through
God working by His Holy Spirit to bring repentance and revival.
So for me there are people I will exalt as examples to follow.
Paul talked about it being a bad thing in terms of rivalry, my group is better than
yours, rather than appreciation of examples of how to walk.
And Bill, I did not mean to suggest you personally were in any role, because I
do not know you or your background.
What I was addressing is the role of leadership as examples, teachers, exhorter's.
It has struck me that people no longer acknowledge our calling or how we are to
lead and encourage one another, let alone what to expect from those who preach
Gods word to us every Sunday.
But then little wonder when wealthy celebrity preaching and success for some is
the aspiration of what it means to be blessed in God.
I think you have unfortunately not understood the point I was making or the
challenge I am giving. We are called to be examples, one to another of the
walk in Holiness, purity and blamelessness.
Well sister I'm speculating, and people need the benefit of the doubt, but he has all the hallmarks of Peter.
He starts with an over the top "loving" greeting followed by an admonition to a "brother", dripping with condescension, buuuut maybe instead of being a brother you're really an evil one, and NOT a brother.
Sprinkle in an out of context Bible verse that HE SAYS means we need to be sinless perfectionists, and how he is able to attain such status.
Then back to a syrupy sweet "blessing" to the supposedly evil person.
Not realizing that merely creating the account is sinful behavior on multiple levels.

We have those who bear false witness, returners come back to do the same, call us lost, give implications of hope that a person gets cancer.
All while telling us how to live the Christian life.

Written by a saved disciple/apostle of Christ, unto the saved children of God in the present tense while including himself 4 times....the disciple who Jesus loved and the one who writes almost 20% of the N.T......I will take his word over yours.....
AMEN...even though numerous verses state clearly we have been saved (past tense) and verb tense proves was saved, am saved and continuing to be saved.....more cracker jack theology from the workers for.......that is all he has to offer......
