God is pleased with faith.
What is faith according to this Scripture to believe HE is a REWARDER to those who SEEK HIM.
Works come as a result of encountering Him, He transforms us from glory to glory. He is pleased by us believing He is a good God who rewards. That's why it's called good news.

Mate he loves and is pleased with us full stop.
The reason being is because we love him and and want to be like him.
I really struggled with this for a long long time.
Is God only pleased with me when I get it right then he only loves me as a result of that.
"This is my one and only Son with whom I am well pleased"
Jesus did what he did out of love for our Father and us, not to please the Father.
He loves me when I get it wrong. Yes he is pleased when we grow and is proud of us.
But if we only work to please him in the hope he doesn't smack us down then that relationship is distorted.
We work because we love him, not to keep him happy.

yes, he loves us no matter what, but as any parent, he is grieved when we go our own way. I know I was when my kids went against me, but I loved them all the same. Yes, we work because we love and trust him, not to make him happy, although, I doubt he would be upset if we wanted to please him by doing a good deed,
No what I am saying it's wrong to say "I do good to keep him happy"
Yes God is happy when we do good and he rejoices in it.
But to say "I do good to keep him happy?

Oh, BTW, lost a "friend" on here due to believing the full sufficiency of the work of Christ, and in the preservation of the saints, what some call osas. That's what standing on the Gospel will do at times, and I am not ashamed of the Gospel.

then next time, maybe not so much
on the other hand, I would consider a friend someone who corrects with love from scripture and can actually show the truth of scripture is not in accord with my pet beliefs. love in this sense, is actually caring about not wanting someone to be in deception

I don't like sloppy kissers and while I do not like being wounded either, eventually, I will come around if I can see the honesty
to you, the gospel is plainly what you state is truth and that includes agreeing with MacArthur on his stand against what the Bible says do not forbid (albeit so many do it in a way that makes a person cringe)
so you know, because YOU personally have a 'well done thou good and faithful believer believing just like me' that you extend to very few, does not mean Jesus is standing behind you grinning at your initiate
to others, the gospel is becoming an experience only that is backed up with cherry picked scripture

You assume if someone is unhappy with you,they can't also love you.
I love my kids even,when they fight or disobey me...but I am not happy with them.
Your walk is only unstable if you believe God falls in and out of,love with you.
God like a good parent can become unhappy with His kids when they sin. He chastens them when that happens and correct their bad behavior by showing them what they should have done instead,
God is not like many "parents" today that spoil their kids and blindly believe they can do no wrong. This never correct them or discipline them at all.
God is a loving father that teaches His kids to live righteous and godly lives.
