Good morning LoveGodForever. So who obeys Him? Believers or unbelievers? What act(s) of obedience do you believe causes us to receive the Holy Spirit?Hi Gb9,
Nice to meet you, here you go...
"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." (Acts 5:32)
God bless you

I am simply asking LoveGodForever to clarify his interpretation of Acts 5:32. No need for your straw man argument. I believe in the Word of God.LoveGodForever is just quoting scripture.
Plainly and simply.
Scripture is the Word of God.
You take unbrage at that???
Incredible.
I thought you believed in the Word of God.

the second part of Acts 5 is about the Apostles being arrested for preaching about the resurrection of Jesus, which he told them to do, and the Sanhedrin was telling them to stop, and their response to them was that they would obey God above men, and the Apostles had the Holy Sprit before then.
Amen....God does give the Holy Spirit to those that obey Him.
Obeying God in context to Acts 5:32 are for those to believe in Christ and all that He has already done.
Obedience in the New Covenant.
Being "obedient to the faith" is believing in Christ and His work for us for life and living. This happens by grace through faith alone in the work of Christ.
Notice here that even the good living moral law-keeping priests need to be "obedient to the faith". The keeping of the law of Moses is NOT the same as being "obedient to the faith".
Acts 6:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.
Pagans/Gentiles also need to be "obedient to the faith" and believe in Christ and what He has done for life and living.
Romans 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake,
All people of all types are called to be "obedient to the faith" - which is belief in Christ alone for life and living.
Romans 16:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith;
From being obedient to believe in Christ's finished work on the cross releases His life to manifest in and through us.

So if a Mormon interprets Acts 5:32 as only those who obey the Mormon "version" of the gospel are those who obey Christ and have received the Holy Spirit, should I accept that as no need for interpretation? Anyone can write a blank check with the word "obey" and fill in whatever acts of obedience they wish and call it obeying Christ, when in fact they may not truly be obeying God. There are people mixed up in false religions and cults who believe they obey Christ, yet pervert the gospel.NONEED FOR "INTERPRETATION".
It's simply stated.
Yes.Do you not believe the word of God?
You said, "Incredible. I thought you believed in the Word of God." That's an assertion, not a question.Asking a simple question is a straw man argument?
How does one have a conversation with you?
Just as it reads and only genuine believers have obeyed Him by choosing to believe the gospel and obey Him after they believe the gospel. What would YOUR interpretation be of such a SIMPLE verse?
I didn't twist it, but people in false religions and cults twist it.Must every verse be twisted and explained to suit YOUR needs?
You are making this complicated, not me.How in Betsy's name does anyone without a PHd in biblical studies and theology EVER get to know what God wants from us???
If the bible is SOOOO difficult to understand, I mean.
