Paul was a hired hand to police the christians who under Jewish law was commiting blasphomey everyday coz they didnt reconize Jesus was the messiah... so under Jewish law they had policemen or guards or prison officers... call them what you like..

Law of any goverment enforcement.... if a goverment official (paul a hired hand)... does not do his duty or compramises there values... they are most likely to be imprisoned or sacked or even taken out... depending on the severity...

Tradition of christian law from Jesus was let he who is without sin cast the first stone. (none did) stoning is not the answer here..

In a nut shell the father may not have came up witht the idea stoning people to Death..... This could be a man made tradition... thoughts please squire...

And could you see that if paul never performed his duty for the jewish law he may well have been stoned to death to ?

Not really because Paul prided himself with upholding the law so no need to be stoned.

The High Priest liked him and agreed to give him letters to arrest more followers.
They rightly saw this sect as a serious threat to the very existance of Israel.

But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Paul pointed to his heart state, that he thought christians were wrong when they were not.
He knew why he was doing it and never did he hate believers, he just felt they were wrong.

paul went from a persecutor of the church and proud of it, to a man who lived his daily life suffering persecutions greater than we will ever know for the church all because Jesus arrived on the scene in pauls heart. Those things behind us are gone, and the things before us should be our sight.

He recieved grace coz i think on his way to dimascus he maybe seeked Jesus.. but paul i believe was ignorant of his beliefs in the sence he followed Jewish law..that was his real crime... ignorance of opening up the heart to Jesus to see if he is real..they didnt even want to try until they saw so many die for him..
