Bill
Is this you?
A chicken with one wing over the kitchen sink and one wing holding a beer.
I don't know if I can ever eat a chicken again...!
Tis me, but what about a beer?

Make that some spumante brut and it's a go.
I'm a cheap date. It should really be champagne. But I can't taste the difference... Silly me.
Just don't ask him to hand over the remoteBill

HAHAHA good......you can do it!
Bill,
Works is not an easy concept to grasp.
You cannot deny that Jesus said to do works. Mathew 5 and 25.
What you say in your very last paragraph up above IS the Law.
He doesn't show us HOW to keep the Law. He tells us what He would like us to do for Him.
Whatsoever you have done to the least of my brothers, you have done to me.
So we are TO DO. But it's WHY and HOW we do that makes the difference.
We cannot keep the standards. If we live by the Law, we will be judged by the Law.
Instead we keep the "love" of God. So we will be judged by His "love".
We love God and it's that love that makes us do what we're supposed to do. Most of the time.
And if we don't, Jesus covers for us.
We don't do things because we have to. But because we want to. And until God tells us to do them, we really cannot.
Some here might baptize members for their Church. That's a BIG work. The Holy Spirit tells us to do this type of work, so we can even hardly call it that --- but a name it must have.
Sometimes I feel like what people are saying is that once we're saved, we don't have to do anything.
I don't think this is what you mean??

Hey Fran,
You know that no one states that, believes that and or promotes that.....![]()

Amen Brother.Ok I'm not sure what has confused you with my post.
I was just trying to bring out the reason why Jesus had to die for us.
My last paragraph was trying to bring out the fact if we could keep the law 100% then Jesus would not have had to die.
He would have said just do it.
You are are right I am not saying that once saved we do not have to do anything.
What I am saying is that as a result of being saved we want to be so much like Jesus and not do works in order to be saved.
Thats cause she knows that remotes are made for men only.
Never mess with a mans remote
For those reading along, I guess I should say that if we do date, my husband will have to come along.
Better say that.
I don't want all the guys on this forum chasing me....
I know how irresistable I could be.
It could sound like that to a new Christian.
And, I do believe some really think this.
Isn't this why they argue so vehemently over "works"??
(almost like they can't handle the responsibility...)
We "get" to do things with our Father and Lord. It's His works that He has prepared for us to walk in with Him.
We are "participating" in the family business of telling people that God loves them dearly and that He has provided real life for them by His grace through faith in Christ alone.
Good analogy Dcontroversal.I don't think so.....anyone who can read can see that we have all stated that the fruit or works are the evidence of and results of genuine saving faith.....however Fran, one piece of fruit is all that is required to identify a tree and any fruit produced is a result of
a. BIRTH
b. GROWTH
c. MATURITY
EVEN nature teaches this....an apple tree is an apple tree the very moment that it sprouts from seed, it takes years of growth and maturity before it produces and may only produce 1 piece depending on soil, water, fertilizer....
The analogy is obvious
FAITH saves and justifies before GOD
FAITH that saves and is invisible to men can be seen by MEN in the fruit that we produce
The fruit is the result of salvation and faith one already possesses in Christ.
