Matthew 12:33-37 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the DAY OF JUDGMENT for every CARELESS WORD they have spoken. FOR BY YOUR WORDS you will be ACQUITTED, and by your words you will be CONDEMNED.”
Matthew 7:15-27 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. EVERY TREE THAT DOES NOT BEAR GOOD FRUIT IS CUT DOWN AND THROWN INTO THE FIRE. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. “NOT EVERYONE who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, BUT ONLY HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you EVILDOERS!’ “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and PUTS THEM INTO PRACTICE is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it DID NOT FALL, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and DOES NOT put them into PRACTICE is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it FELL WITH A GREAT CRASH.”
James 1:22-27 But be ye DOERS OF THE WORD AND NOT HEARERS ONLY, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror; for he beholdeth himself, and then goeth his way and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY and CONTINUETH therein, he being not a forgetful hearer but a DOER OF THE WORK, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. Pure religion, undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
2 Timothy 2:14-16,23-26 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a WORKMAN who needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH. But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase unto more ungodliness, BUT FOOLISH AND UNLEARNED QUESTIONS AVOID, knowing that they engender strifes. AND THE SERVANT OF THE LORD MUST NOT ENGENDER STRIFE, but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those in opposition. Perhaps God will give them repentance, THAT THEY MAY ACKNOWLEDGE THE TRUTH, and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
James 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.
