This series, like the theme song, really grew on me... (Once Upon A Small Town)

Netflix allows you to skip past a show's repeating intro, but I would listen to this song over and over anyways...

My film collection is vast, about 50/50 English language and foreign films, which i've encoded to mkv over the years. i haven't owned a TV for over 20 years, however, have several rigs and a 27" monitor on a sitting room wall, which is perfect for the size of the room.

Pasting links to a few films i'm really fond of:

Herod's Law [1999] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221344/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Spontaneous [2020] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5774062/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_SPONTANEOUS%20202

English Vinglish [2012] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2181931/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_6_nm_2_in_0_q_ENGLISH%20V (LOVE Bollywood films :))

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel [2009] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt091055...nm_0_in_0_q_FREQUENTLY%20ASKED%20QUESTIONS%20

California Dreamin' [2007] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449573/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_CALIFORNIA%20DREAMING%20200

Jones Plantation [2023] https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26964727/

Definitely gives a good idea of my taste in films, hope some members might find something new they like among them :)

I really like most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and TV shows, though I'm admittedly about 5 years behind at this point. I really need to watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier soon, so I can understand the new Captain America film when it comes out next summer. I'm also looking forward to the new series Daredevil: Born Again - a trailer was unveiled today at the New York Comic Con.

The MCU has been sunk. Anymore they lose more money than they make. It's been dubbed by many as the M She U, due to the heavy feminist agenda in every new release, as well as other woke narratives.
MCU movies seemingly have degraded in writing, favoring agenda over story telling.
The same goes for Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. All three franchises ruined and fans are turning against them in droves.
And the popular response from actors, writers, producers, etc... is blaming anyone who talks against their films for being racists, transphobic, misogynistic, etc...
So don't expect much as you go forward.

I will agree with you about much of the Star Wars franchise, especially the sequels directly supervised by Krazy Kathleen Kennedy (or "KKK" for short). Those movies are about as blatantly man-hating as you can get, especially regarding Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi. Mark Hamill practically did everything in his power other than screaming from the rooftops, trying to convince people they shouldn't watch the movie. He later tried to retract his position, but if you ask me that was probably his attempt at staying on KKK's good side. As for other Star Wars productions, I like what I've seen in The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka...but it seems that KKK is letting others have more creative freedom compared to the main films.

Talking about the Tolkien universe, just about everything I've heard regarding The Rings of Power has been horrible, so I haven't watched a single episode. The Hobbit movies were okay, but far from the greatest of the first trilogy. To partially quote Bilbo Baggins, the later films seemed like they were "thin and stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread." There's one animated entry coming soon though, called War of the Rohirrim, and then Peter Jackson has two others in development. The first will be centered on Gollum during the first part of The Fellowship of the Ring, with Andy Serkis directing. As for the other, Jackson's kept his mouth shut so far; we'll probably know more sometime next year.

Finally, about the MCU, I basically have one reason for missing so much, and its just laziness. The last theatrical release I saw was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while I bought most of the later Blu-Rays; I just haven't watched them yet. I did read about Maria Hill's death in Secret Invasion series, and the circumstances of that really ticked me off; she was so great in the Avengers movies. The Hawkeye show is hitting 4K in December, and since I'm a fan of Jeremy Renner I'll probably pick that up. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter to me what the critics or general haters say; if I watch a movie or TV show and think it sucks, then I'll sell it to someone else who will like it.
