My oldest memories from the time i was almost a teen all i had were bad dreams and nightmares. In my teens they began tapering off, slowly. I was in my 20s before it seemed i had a normal amount of bad dreams. Not sure i've had any dreams where someone is trying to kill me (though i probably have).
I have had dreams of others i knew dying. And the other day i had a dream where i wanted to kill myself (a first). And when i was younger i had a recurring bad dream (for years).

It's interesting. You would think after all the horror movies and the like that I've watched over the years, one might think as a result that my dreams would be a little more....horrific. But they're not.

I mean, I might be in some kind of peril in a dream that I'm having, but they're never over-the-top terrifying. But....that's not a bad thing, right?

I'm sorry you're having those kind of dreams, OP. I'll be praying that you have better dreams in the future. :)

Once in a while, and I would thank God each night for 'the peace that passes all understanding' . God bless and sweet dreams.

I have very few unpleasant dreams, let alone horrific ones. I suggest you start putting on your spiritual armour every day (Ephesians 6), and if you already do, ask the Lord to reveal the reason(s) why you're having these dreams and whether there is any real-world concern. :)

Yes, I use to have nightmares all the time as a kid. I've had reoccurring nightmares before.

Dreams stem from correct and incorrect thoughts we've had. So God whispers the truth and we believe it. Demons also whisper to us, and when we believe them we're giving them more power, hence the nightmares. Mine are typically fear based or being foolish about something.

Nowadays I don't really worry about nightmares. I have a lot of lucid dreams so I'm able to remember and analyze them pretty well. It's so ingrained in me to call on God even when I'm not lucid I still have the knowledge to get rid of them. So I'll hold up my hands to the nightmare character and say, "In the name of the living God I command you to go away."
Dreams are funny though. When I say things correctly things completely turn around. Like in that example the character disappeared and I found a door wide open to the outside. Another time I told the character I was a Christian and wouldn't go along with his agenda. A fire alarm went off so I could leave that one. Almost like congrats you passed, move along. Like someone is keeping an eye on it. ;)

I was three and watched my brother (5) and best friend strike a match near a gas tank on an old model-T Ford pickup. His hair caught on fire and he started running swallowing the flames about his head. The last I saw of him was waiting on the ambulance on my mother's lap.

I had nightmares about that day for the next 9 years. It wasn't diagnosed as such but it was PTSD. I would wake up screaming trying to get a fix on where I was. My mother always left a hall light on so I could. I couldn't talk about it until I was twelve. Once I started talking about it, I realized I blamed myself for not warning my brother against the fire. Because he looked at me and asked "should I?" I just shrugged my shoulders and then it happened.

I meditated on that self blame that I didn't even realize I had until I finally decided it was misplaced. I was 3, he was 5. He led, I followed. He wasn't about to listen to me anyway. I finally started healing and soon the nightmares stopped. I miss him but it was his time to go.

Nightmares can be repressed memories that come up in your sleep.

Those unresolved issues can create bigger headaches later.

Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Could be a forewarning but not necessarily ! I also had a recurring bad dreams younger which unfortunately become a reality. It looks like the brain can see future events. In any case, just called your cousin and be sure you are in peace with him. God bless you !

Sometimes I have dreams that I am in the place of someone else. Is your cousin after someone else ??
