I have heard of the "Night Watches," where the night time is divided into 3 or 4 equal segments.
Mark 13:35, "Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of t he house cometh, at 1)EVEN [(sunset) 6pm-9pm], or at 2)MIDNIGHT [9pm-12am], or at the 3)COCKCROWING [12am-3am], or in the 4)MORNING [3am-6am (sunrise)].
As for the daytime, I know there are 12 hours, But has anyone heard of "Day Watches"?

I always thought day watches simply didn't light up.

I was in the Navy for nearly 9 years. There were watches, six four hour blocks, over 24 hours. So yes, morning, afternoon, evening and nighttime.

The first "watch" of the night began at sundown and was called the "evening watch": 6-9pm
The Passover Lambs were to be sacrificed "at even". This would have to be BEFORE sunset when the first night watch would begin.
Lev.23:5, "In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover."
I have heard this to mean "between the evenings".
We also know that Jesus died at the same time the passover lambs were sacrificed, which was the ninth hour of the day on the 14th.
Were there two "day watches" referred to as "evening"? with 3pm (being the ninth hour of the day) being equivalent to "between the evenings"....?....
Just looking for some insight here. :)

35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. Mark 13: 35, 36 KJV

I know this doesn't answer the question, just thought I would post these verses.

^ To go along with Reggie_violin 's Mk13:35 passage, I am aware of the following OT passages using the phrase "the morning watch" (which I suspect is the same as in the Mk13 passage):

Exo 14:24
And it came to pass, that in the morning H1242 watch H821 the LORD H3068 looked H8259 unto the host H4264 of the Egyptians H4714 through the pillar H5982 of fire H784 and of the cloud, H6051 and troubled H2000 the host H4264 of the Egyptians, H4714

--And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

1Sa 11:11
And it was so on the morrow, H4283 that Saul H7586 put H7760 the people H5971 in three H7969 companies; H7218 and they came H935 into the midst H8432 of the host H4264 in the morning H1242 watch, H821 and slew H5221 the Ammonites H5983 until the heat H2527 of the day: H3117 and it came to pass, that they which remained H7604 were scattered, H6327 so that two H8147 of them were not left H7604 together. H3162

--And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.

So, under the "H821 watch" word (at BlueLetterBible), read short paragraph under the the following heading: "Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon" (at link):

[I can't Copy & Paste that section here, for some reason]

I haven’t but certainly something there.
