Lord, thank you for the newspaper lady,
who is faithful to her church. She is
hardly in the building but often does good works.
She genuinely loves you and tells others' so.
She is present every sunday to all on the go.
Her name is not better known than any mega pastor,
yet her impact is profound to those who weekly pass her.
Her smile is endearing and her commitment, slightly better.
Her penguin posture is always seen, regardless of the weather.
Thank you for newspaper ladies, like the one on my street,
the first ones to church, who eagerly "meet 'n' greet."

Lord, thank you for the newspaper lady,
who is faithful to random strangers.
She welcomes all; regardless of the danger.
Some drivers hong horns, yelling for selfish reasons.
But most do it later to say, "Thank you...
"for helping me through life's seasons."

She is poor and can barley walk, the pain is just too much.
But then, as you've often done, you help her with your touch.
Re-inspired her light shines brighter than the week before.
Evidence would incriminate that she is grateful for her Lord.
She creates a big commotion with her waves, flagging people down.
"Let me tell you, just what God did to turn my life around."

Thank you for the newpaper lady, who is an encouragement to me.
More than anyone at church, she's the one I go to see.
The fruits of your work in her reminds me who you are.
She has been a consistent witness to me and my little car.

Lord, may I be more like Christ in her, a bit more today--
that little penguine postured woman who met me on my way.
