Mexican military officials report that on February 22, a large-scale joint operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco resulted in the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, widely known as “El Mencho,” longtime leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
According to released details, Special Forces and National Guard units carried out a coordinated ground-and-air operation after intelligence efforts tracked his location. Authorities say two separate armed confrontations occurred — first at a structure where he was reportedly located, and later in a wooded area as suspects attempted to flee.
Mexican officials report:
• 8 suspected cartel members killed
• Multiple arrests
