I mean whats the difference of wearing leggings and not wearing leggings I mean you legs are still shown I think as long as your skirt isn't shorter than the middle of your thigh you are fine.

I think modesty is more about your heart than your clothes but I think we should try to make it easier for our brothers in Christ not to look at us lustfully. Just my opinion

I love girls that dress modestly! It says they care for themselves, their families, and the guys that they meet. My ideal woman wears dresses and long skirts, simple jewelry (if any), and avoids makeup. When a girls does all that, and still radiates beauty and femininity, you know she's a keeper.

I think Topher is onto something. I mean if you see a girl that is wearing little next to nothing what is the first thought that comes into a guys mind? We are made like that, yes and we are to take every thought captive, however you can't just go around blaming the guys. If a girl is dressed like that why are they? I mean who taught them to dress like that? I know Jesus surely didn't. If Jesus had his own clothing style what would it look like?

I was just looking around for topics for my teenage Bible study group and had an expierence i thought i would shsre with you all. This very topic came up in a during one of our regular stuy nights and one teenage boy brought up the point that if Jesus were to appear to you in person would you be imbaressed by your appereance! That comment has used many time since that night most recently when we took our youths to the local swimming pool for an outing. Our paster basically told all the young ladies if you wouldnt wear the bathing suit to meat Jesus than you shouldnt wear it at all. I just thought i would trow that out there for comment! Hey, listen, I'm a guy. And I do struggle with lust. The fact is, what you wear isn't the issue most of the time. It is the attitude you wear it with.
Be yourself. And let your clothing be a part of you. The clothing you wear does NOT make you, you make your clothes. It's the attitude.
At the same time however, I would suggest that you look at the clothing that you feel might be a bit to revealing, and ask God, ask your friend, about the modesty of the piece.

Honestly i hate when people think "you must wear big long skirts & long sleeve shirts" just because your a christian. I mean DONT show cleavege & dont show the booty BUT also your not going to be walking around with long skirts & long sleeve shirts when its like 100 degreese outside.
I never worn a bikiny meaning a bra swimsuit piece & little undies swimsuit piece outside or to the beach.
I worn a two piece that were shorts & a top piece that showed some of my belly but not a lot, mostly like 1-3 inches & it covered my chest.
I have not been swimming in almost 3 or 4 years. Its think okay to wear pants, capris & shorts as long as they are not really short. Yes wearing shorts that show your bottom is Bad especially loss shorts that when you walk you can bend over & see some booty.
Plus its not really wearing shorts its being a slut, I seen sluts that wear pants & cover up themselfs BUT yet they give it freely so easily & quick....
Its just not about how you dress....

Thats REALLY true if you would not wear it to infront of God himself knowing he will tell you that is very respectfull what you are wearing OR you are a disgrace go cover youself up then dont wear it...

Looks like this topic has pretty much run it's couse--but I just thought I would throw a little bit out there.
I have never really gotten swimware. It's pretty strange. Like we wear stuff that we would not normally (or never in most girls' cases) wear in public.
Personally I think that girls should be pretty conservative in what they wear. As a guy, I can say that I really enjoyed my experiences swimming at Christian events where people are required to wear a darker shirt (and shorts sometimes) along with their bathing suit. Not just because there is so much less temptation, but just because it is so much easier to hang around with girls. At other times, it's just awkward for me to be around all these girls that are wearing bikinis. Not sure why it is so psychological..but yeah...maybe a little has to do with the perception that some posters mentioned before?
Clothes are not some little deal. As a guy, I don't think that there is any bigger battleground than there is with lust. I hope that all girls (and us guys too) do our best to help one another out, and just be brothers and sisters in Christ--without the weightly temptations.

I feel that a woman should dress modestly , I find that the bible is VERY clear on this subject and that is what we should go by. This might sound weird but i think skirts that are above the knee is too short. I also think little to no clevage should be shown. The image you potray may be important to non belivers if they are thinking of converting.
As for swimwear, I go swimming everynight for 2 hours, i swim one mile in 30 minutes and do it twice over the period of time, with plently extra time to play with my twin brother. Solomon says in the bible there is time, place and season for certain thing. Now to me- were else are you going to wear a SWIMsuit but whilst you are swimming, it might be a little hard to swim continuasly for two hours with a t-shirt and short on aswell - i know i am a qualified lifeguard

I believe that it's a matter of one's intentions, a bikini is not inherently good nor bad.
if you're wearing it because
a. you think it's stylish
b. it has an artsy appeal about it
c. it's hot outside
then I think you are A okay.
if however you are
A. trying to attract sexy partners (aka partners for sexy time affiliation)
B. it's cold outside (which would not make you a provocateur, but rather slightly confusedD)
C. trying to be suggestive for looks
then it's probably not a good idea.
NOTE: this is just a basic idea, I'm sure you can fill in blanks where you need them

You obviously have worldly views and not Godly views. Christians do not have narrow views.
Christians are to be Christ-like and Christ said women are not to flaunt their self. Shorts I can
understand. But bikinis and the cleveage concept are clearly against God's Laws. How you
present yourself physically as a child of God is just as important as your spiritual relationship
with God. If the world can not tell you are different than the world, then your witness for
Christ is not obvious.
Any type of dress that would flaunt your body in a way that allows others to see what only
your husband/wife should see is wrong in God's eyes.
When you stand before God to be judged, would you wear your bikini or have your breasts
hanging out?

I see nothing wrong with short skirts...as long as you wear leggings under them. i see nothing wrong with lowcut tops as long as you wear an undershirt,and so on and so forth with the list. but for me things like halters,spagetti straps,and low cut jeans are no big deal as long as YOU dont make a big deal out of them. it is possible to look sexy without looking skanky.if you wanna wear short-shorts dont pair them with a halter/spagetti strap/strapless top other you have completed the stero-type slut look(please dont take offence when i say slut/skank/hoochie.its just that there arent really any short polite names for that yet.and if there are i havent heard of them)so if you wanna wear short-shorts pair them with a tight-long-sleeved shirt,or something other than the aforementioned.the BAD aforementioned.

Just thought I'd throw out here on the bathing suit topic ...that i agree with most of the guys...especially the one that said something about "is that bathing suit you're wearing less clothing than you would be wearing to a sleepover with a bunch of people" i'm an advocate for modesty ...i hate the thought of girls messing with guys minds especially in a provocative manner. Anyway, so I decided that the bathing suits I'd been wearing in my middle school/early high school years were too skimpy...I was wearing tankini's ...so I've graduated to buying boy swim trunks and under armor (i wear one of my old bathing suits underneath). it's totally fine for swimming in and it's modest. and you actually get a second glance because you're sticking out by wearing more clothing than the other girls.
