I was reading the bible lately and I noticed some things that confused me a little bit.First Off:

Show no mercy, have no pity! Kill them all- old and young, girls and women and little children.

God Ezekiel 9:5

Who precisely should I kill.

Looking at Ezekiel 9 as a whole, you can see that YOU are not commanded to kill anyone. This is about judgement being bright upon idolators. It can be hard for us to understand this, but God has often used men to carry out His judgement.

Yeeeaaaahhh don't kill anyone like Rodogg said. You don't need to kill anyone. Search context first

Context, context, context.

That's like taking James 2:17 out of context which would defeat the whole purpose of Jesus dying on the cross.

The bible is either descriptive or prescriptive. Knowing the difference is tricky unless you study the books of the bible (and the bible itself) in their entirety and ask God for the discernment you need. Example, God told the Israelites on entering Canaan that they had to kill everyone, including women and children so that their paganism would not deter Gods way of life for them. God ordered only the Israelites to do this at that specific time, and does not apply for us. That was prescriptive for the Israelites but remains descriptive for us as readers whereas the commands of Jesus to his followers in the gospels are clearly prescriptive. Judas hanging himself out of unrepentant guilt and his guts spilling out - that is definitely descriptive.

My advice is, the purpose of the Old Testament aka the Old Covenant was to prepare for Jesus (the New Covenant/New Testament), so whatever you're reading in the Old Testament relate it back To Jesus. And make sure you're studying into the background of any book before you read it or else the topic eg war, will confuse you.

The question is not who should you kill, but rather who should you not worship so God doesn't get angry with you.
The answers is: false gods / idols.

God is a jealous god, but we don't have to worry about Him ordering the killing of idolaters anymore because He has given all authority to judge over to His son, Jesus Christ, our merciful savior.

God bless.
