Will we ever fully know,
How amazing it is to be alive,
With the spirit of God in our soul,
And a hint of knowledge in the mind?
In all the deep of universe,
Only man can ask a question,
And only you are you,
With your sacred thoughts and dreams.
Nothing else sees beauty,
Nothing else knows itself,
Nothing else feels love, or hate,
Nothing else is drawn by truth.
Life is the grand exception,
In the unimaginable dark of the abyss,
Where there alone is growth, and there is joy,
And sorrow and pain.
Only there lay hollowing hungers,
And the transient meal,
Only there is the ceaseless yearning,
Of aching hearts; and Love to sooth.
Near the end we will all be broken,
When it begins to slip away,
And we remain with naught but hope; save hope,
But, Oh my; what a ride.
