Interesting thread! I've studied MBTI a good amount and found I can generally type people fairly accurately after talking with them after a while. It's kind of scary actually. Even though this test is pretty accurate, obviously each persons personality is unique and there will never be a test that will put them in neat little "boxes".
However, there seem to be tendencies. From what I've seen in charts/statistics most traditional, evangelical Christian men will test ISTJ, as their polar opposites, women tend to test xSFJ.

I think...
that the MBTI is very relevant in helping us understand each other. This is especially the case as it pertains to suspending judgement on someone for the way that they are.
I was recently in a relationship that was suggested by all of our mutual friends. People kept saying things like, "Well if you are both Christians, there is nothing more you need. You can work anything out and overcome any difference." I know that I have the capacity to love someone that I am with regardless of the circumstances involved. I'm pretty good at overcoming differences and being able to empathize with people but...
In spite of all the things we did together, it was like everything that I saw as beautiful and meaningful was not registering on her radar. So I just thought that I should try to fix her. Whereas things that I could do and not think twice about like covering the tip or fixing random things in her apartment, these are what made her smile.
I broke up with her and then a week later through my Marriage and Family class, I discovered the MBTI. I figured out that she was an ISTJ and that I was an ENFP. We were about as opposite as it gets. Her love language was physical touch and mine was Words of Affirmation. She liked watching TV cause it gave us a chance to hold hands. I hated watching TV cause it meant I couldn't talk with her. She enjoyed fulfilling all of the duties and obligations of her job and I just wanted her to value her freedom and talk about what ''getting away'' means to her.
She is living her dream and I was trying to change everything about that because our core psychological makeup was polar opposite.

Thank you for posting this... quite fascinating. Of course, it then makes me wonder what type my exes were...
I once heard a sermon about how the Bible will say things such as, "Now there was a certain man," or "There was a certain woman," and the pastor pointed out how God chooses very specific people for specific purposes. (Often He chooses someone because they're the LEAST qualified.)
I personally believe it's a "great Christian myth" that two people can say, "Oh, we're Christians, we can make love relationship work." God doesn't just say, "Oh, just as long as they're a Christian, I'll choose them to... lead my people... make that decision... be responsible for the church funds... As long as they're a Christian!" So... it's just my opinion... but I think it would be the same in a relationship, and especially a marriage--that God would choose or lead you to a very specific person.
