Lord Jesus, now receive your own
That with your glory earth be sown
And darkness breaking, undone its might
Would yield us by your death to life
Daylight's mercy greets night’s dark veil
As the body made righteous rests in his martyrdom
The day dies but the night dares hover
And solemn silence spreads its cover
Oh why the children of light
Now must hide under night
The air feels thick by irony's weight
Yet inside these dark chambers
The wounded grace remembers
And bleeding hearts abide in faith
The oil poured for his burial
Reminds death it has no right
By fragrance uniting wounded skin
With one who by blood purchased him
And did not descend for naught
But freedom to bound souls brought
The fearful flock did once scatter
When they struck down the divine Master
Yet hope once risen could not shatter
As bonds of love held firm and faster
Now we live in present affliction
But breathe the air of hope that lasts
Through depths of despair
He hears our whisper
Our sigh turns to prayer
Breathing resurrection air
Lord Jesus, now receive your own
That with your glory earth be sown
And darkness breaking, undone its might
Would yield us by your death to life
That with your glory earth be sown
And darkness breaking, undone its might
Would yield us by your death to life
