Marilyn Manson now a Christian?

To me this looks like nothing more than a pathetic attempt at publicity. It's become so common these days for worldly misicians to turn to Christianity to jumpstart their sagging careers it's comical.

In the first place, Manson won't come out publicly and say if he's become a Christian. A true Christian wouldn't hesitate to profess their faith. Secondly, all one has to do is look at the ridiculous costumes Kanye and company are wearing in this video clip to see it's all a publicity stunt.

The list of musicians who have supposedly become Christians is long. A lot of them go right on performing their old music or even rejoin their old bands as a way of "evangelizing," as in the case of Brian Welch of Korn. I saw Alice Cooper on late night TV in full makeup and costume performing one of his old songs after he supposedly became a Christian. I will give Joe English credit though. After leaving Paul McCartney and Wings he started a Christian band of his own. Unfortunately English ended up in a cult, the Word of Faith Fellowship, and is there to this day as far as I know.

Ultimately these kinds of things have little relevance to the individual Christian, or to our daily walk.

If a celebrity says something, or does something.... what affect does that really have on a Christian's day?


Biblical Perspective:
A. The scripture tells us the virtue of patience, and it also tells us to "prove" and "test" all things.
B. This means I can take a deep breath, relax, and go about my business... and sooner or later the truth of all claims will become apparent by their fruit.
C. It also means that I shouldn't jump to conclusions, or get too excited. Until a matter has "proven" itself... we just don't know.
D. Therefore, as a Christian, I don't need to bother with speculation.... I can just wait quietly and see.

I'm not convinced that ever celeb that makes this claim is sincere, but I'm not going to make threads to make blanket judgements about them, either. What clothes they wear or songs they sing is between them and God and it seems your input is not needed.
A true Christian wouldn't hesitate... somebody better tell Jesus he picked a fake Christian when he picked Peter.

It's fake Christianity. This sort of thing isn't isolated to celebrities. The fake Christianity of the megachurchianity feeds it; and likewise it influences these "churches." So yeah, a lot of young people involved in megachurchianity are being affected every day.

You would do well to get your head out of the sand and have a look around.

You're living in a fantasy world.

A few quick points:

1. I didn't post in order to contradict you, or undermine your arguments... I was merely adding "additional information" to the conversation.

2. The additional information I added is relevant to these kinds of public stories... stories where many people feel uncertainty because there is a lack of clear data.

3. In any situation where there IS plenty of clear data, then you should certainly share that data, and help everyone to be informed.

4. In any situation where there is NOT an abundance of clear data, and clear patterns of behavior, then both scripture and logic would dictate we take a more cautious approach in judgement.

5. I presented two scriptural principles in order to deal with issues where there may NOT be clear data:
a.) use patience
b.) prove (test) all things

6. As these are biblical principles, and God ordained them, and Christians have been using them successfully for 2 millennia to sort through all manner of difficulties... I think these principles are extremely practical and relevant.

7. If young Christians were taught these simple principles, then they would not be so easily led astray by every celebrity claim - they would instead be trained to slow down, be skeptical, and carefully weigh the data, or wait for the data.

8. I was not suggesting, at any point, that everything in the world was lovely, or that celebrities are all trustworthy. I was merely sharing biblical principles for dealing with situations that have a lack of compelling data.

9. We often encounter situations that have a lack of compelling, or significant data. This is common. This happens on a daily basis. The bible gives us simple principles in dealing with this.

10. If YOU feel there is already compelling data regarding the motives of Kanye and Manson, that may be a valid opinion, but I might argue that, at this point, the data seems less than clear and overwhelming. However, if we use the simple biblical principle of remaining skeptical while we "test" and "prove" things out... then we have the best of everything. We've protected ourselves by remaining skeptical, and we've taken the time to wait for clear and compelling data to come forward so our final judgement is sound.

This is precisely how the Bible tells us to handle situations that are murky or unclear.


CONCLUSION:

a.) If you have compelling and significant data, on any given issue, then it's appropriate to share that data, and help everyone to make a clear and biblical judgement.

b.) Many situations do not come, immediately, with such compelling and significant data... so there are biblical principles for wisely dealing with this.

c.) The Biblical method in these situations is to use caution: We are to "prove" and "test" the matter using the preponderance of scripture, along with the rational mind God gave us. And nowhere in scripture does it say we have to do this in a hurry. We are to step back, and view uncertain things with skepticism, until they are proven out.

d.) If young Christians were taught to use these principles (to view uncertain things with skepticism until they are thoroughly proven) then they wouldn't be led astray by all the lies of the world.

e.) Personally, I have ZERO confidence in any claims by Kanye or Manson. But if I look at the situation, and I feel there is a lack of clear evidence regarding their true motives, it is not incumbent upon me to come to some immediate judgement. It is perfectly Biblical for me to use caution, be skeptical, and keep some distance until their real motive are "tested" and "proven." Please note, the Biblical position is to remain SKEPTICAL until unclear things become clear. It is this skepticism of the "unclear" that protects us. That is God's plan. That is his word.

This is a must-see video for anyone interested in Alice Cooper and his so-called Christianity. It's actually a video on Greg Laurie—another apostate. The first 30 minutes or so is about Laurie's relationship with Alice Cooper and Cooper's "Christianity." Cooper first announced his conversion in the late 80s I believe, and after all this time he hasn't really changed at all.

I personally believe Cooper is demon possessed and needs all our prayers. Laurie needs prayer too.
