I was a carrier for 35 years but I recently retired.
That is quite an accomplishment, especially with all those years.

It's been around zero °F for more days than any year in my life.

That's been the challenge more than the snow. The news said aillion people were with out power. Few use wood stoves or other sources, so I hope they made it.

I was willing to work one more year but my wife insisted I retire. She had already been retired for 3 years before me and she was tired of me working long hours. Plus she needed help watching the grandkids. 
It froze and we had slurry fall. People where excited to see it snowing down here in Florida. Nothing stuck to the ground and it was over really quick. One more cold night for us then it will warm back up for 1 week.
32 degrees Fahrenheit = 0 degrees Celsius..
I think it would be a wise investment to get a wood stove. To have something for an emergency if you lose power in your country..
