Sadly yes 😭 I went to a different church yesterday as the church I had been going to for the last four years got a new pastor about eight months ago and I don't like what she is coming out with. She told me the story of Noah was just that a story and it wasn't true. She told me Jesus Christ don't work miracles that's why so many people have mental health problems. Most people in the church think she is great as more people are coming to church but what she is telling people I don't think is a good thing. I keep praying for help. There are a few people in that church who are lovely though and seem to have a love for Jesus.

Good to see new members looking for truth. Unfortunately you are right. In Luke 18:8 Jesus asks the question " When He returns will He find faith on earth?" There will be very little genuine faith on earth when He returns. The largest proportion of so called "Christian" churches are already apostate and the world is fast heading towards the one world apostate church which will exist during the Tribulation. Gods advice to Christians is to come out of these churches. if you cannot find a genuine church in your area you can still hear great messages from some genuine preachers on U Tube. There are great God honoring hymns available there also. Just search around on U Tube .

I remember doing the Alpha course during lockdown. Some great questions that really got me thinking. Thanks for posting the videos on here Magenta I will have a watch of them again.
I just don't know what to do about church. I went back to the church I used to go to this morning to pick up my Christmas tree I decorated for Christmas. Most of the people were horrible and the pastor seems to say untrue things about the bible but that is where I first found Jesus on the 15th September 2019 best day of my life. Walking home a felt sad but something inside of me said "don't cry I am always with you"
Don't give up Phreshphish God will lead you to the right church for you. Just keep believing 🥰

Mark 15:1,13 KJV
And straightway in the morning
the chief priests
held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council,
and bound Jesus,
and carried him away,
and delivered him to Pilate.

[13] And they cried out again, Crucify him.

It's hard to say. A lot of people are just filled with hate and are looking for something or someone to hate. Maybe they had a bad experience with Christians or Christianity in the past; maybe they have their own spiritual or religious agenda and feel that Christianity gets in their way; or maybe they want to control you and you being a Christian prevents that. There are so many reasons it's hard to find a simple answer.

Those who belong to this world will hate you as they do not have the truth or reject it.
Jhn 15:18 If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.
Jhn 15:19 If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

Blessings and welcome

Yes I see it all the time, many reject or simply forget Jesus teachings, they believe a lie and follow someone elses teachings they are blind.

I have not found a proper church but am still looking.

Blessings and Welcome

I have answered this question a number of times in different ways when asked a variety of questions concerning non-believers' attitudes towards religion in general, and Christianity in particular, and usually try to fine those previous posts again, as source material... The long and the short of it is: Some claim the Bible God is based on the primitive superstitions of ancient knuckle dragging cave dwelling goat herders, while they consider themselves to be too smart and too sophisticated and more logical and more rational and too intelligent for such (the roots of which is pride), clinging to modern science for answers, the claims of which they accept on faith while pooh poohing faith at the same time. Some will even say that it is impossible to know whether God exists or not, whereas God promises to reveal Himself to those who diligently and sincerely seek Him. Each must make their own choice, and as far as I am concerned, it is the most important decision one can make in their life.

Meanwhile, they love to think they are smarter than Christians, that faith is a crutch, and untenable, illogical even, a belief in an invisible friend, a fairy tale... in essence, their god is their pride of life: they are so much smarter than believers, so much more rational than believers, and much more logical than believers, in their view of themselves. They will say you only believe because you were told to. And yet, if you speak with atheists or agnostics over a period of time, you come to understand that a lot of that sort of talk is pure bluster; it is their pride of life talking, their need to feel superior to that which they do not understand and cannot accept. And it is also hostility toward the God they do not believe in, though they will deny being hostile. They will say Christians only believe because we are brainwashed while they allow themselves to be brainwashed as they gobble up Hitchens and Hawking and Dawkins etc., and blame religion in general and Christianity in particular for all the ills of the world. Some want to destroy your faith, and try very hard to shake it at the very least.

I was going through the Alpha Course when I finally realized, after all my years of running from God,
that I had finally laid down my opposition to Him and needed no more convincing of the Truth of His
revealed written Word. Please try some more conventional churches, perhaps Baptist or Mennonite.

There are a variety of teacher daily on kari55.com, available online and radio.
Please check them out! I have my favourites even if and when I do not agree
with them all the time, and learn even from those I do not much care for.

You Are Welcome! God Bless You

Signs of the times, as they say. Welcome to CC, dear brother! :)(y):coffee:

Matthew 24:
9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Unfortunately, that can happen. You may have to seek out a new circle of friends. You are welcome here.

John 15:
18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Hello SunshineGirl, along with what others have said, I think that part of the reason (for those in the world hating us) is that we become something very different than we used to be, something very different than they continue to be. Even if we don't talk about God and the Bible to them, how we talk/what we say, in general, what we do, the values that we now espouse, what is truly important to us, etc., are an affront to them, to their sinful, worldly values and lifestyle choices (as our lives confirm, in a sense, perhaps their deepest fears, that there really is something wrong at the very core of their lives, just like their consciences have been trying to tell them all along).

And when we do witness to them about the Lord, the Gospel and therefore why we are different than we used to be, they often take offense because they think that what we're really saying to them is that we are "good", and they are "bad", which couldn't be further from the truth (as I know you know).

The Bible has a bit to say about this. For instance,
2 Timothy 3
12 All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
Sadly, this is true even in the case of our family members and friends who are not saved. As the Lord Himself told us,
Matthew 10
34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35 For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;
36 and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD."
The unsaved, those who are still "natural" men and women, cannot understand or accept things from God's spiritual POV (as anything short of foolishness, that is), until God changes them, just like He changed us, so that they finally can.

As the Lord Himself said to us about some of this (directly to us in Ezekiel and John, and then later through the pen of the Apostle Paul),
Ezekiel 36
26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”
John 3
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 2
12 Now ~we~ have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
14 But a ~natural~ man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.
God bless you!!

Hello @phreshphish, welcome to CChat. I'm glad that you found us and joined in the discussions with us :)

God bless you!!

~Deuteronomy (David)
p.s. - if some of the churches that you've visited are struggling to love one another, maybe you should stay with them for awhile and help them by being an example for them to follow?

Galatians 6
9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

You've heard it said of people that are 'a legend in their own eyes,' and most of the world would like the rest of the world to believe this. Legendary status is what they strive for and don't care for anyone offering them reality, even though reality will eventually present itself sooner or later, and they'll have an even harder time dealing with it then when it does. For a general example, the roaring 20s gave way to the Great Depression.

I was fortunate to befriend a lady, a couple of them even, that grew up during the Depression which had much to do to influence her into a great lady, imo, that she became. She started life out in humble circumstances and 'came up' from it. And I think that the Christian attitude agrees this is the best approach toward life, stay humble even when acquiring great wealth or renown but, if that is true, then that inherently implies that living the 'high life' never ends well. And, since that is exactly what most of the world hopes to do then...

They either don't, can't, or won't, understand that it is the humble that are exalted. And even though you might exhibit no such air of self-exaltation, perhaps their consciouses actually do know this to be reality and so become irritated that they must struggle within their own minds and 'ramp up' the effort to suppress this truth, and aim this irritation at you, perhaps even mistaking you for the source of it, but at the least evidence of one that confirms it.

This is likely why God directs us to love those that hate us, they do not know what they are doing.
