Nineveh…
Jonah 1:2… Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

The book of Nahum tells of the destruction of Nineveh by the Babylonians….
Nahum 2: 8-13….
8 Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water,
Now they flee away.
“Halt! Halt!” they cry;
But no one turns back.
9 Take spoil of silver!
Take spoil of gold!
There is no end of treasure,
Or wealth of every desirable prize.
10 She is empty, desolate, and waste!
The heart melts, and the knees shake;
Much pain is in every side,
And all their faces are drained of color.
11 Where is the dwelling of the lions,
And the feeding place of the young lions,
Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub,

What was the exact location for this event? And biblically, what other notable incidents occurred here? Why here?

can i just say this is, to me, one of the most poignant pictures of the Gospel in all the Bible?
David wanting to show kindness for Jonathan's sake, just as we are shown kindness, mercy and love for Jesus' sake.
like Mephibosheth, we'll eat at the King's table forever. glory to God!
Normally new kings kill the entire lineage of the kings they replace so there are no disputes later as to who is the rightful king. Mephibosheth probably thought he would be killed when brought before David. Not only that, he was helpless to escape as he couldn't walk. He is indeed a picture of us all before Jesus...under the sentence of death and helpless to do anything about it.
Great is the mercy of our King.
