Excellent! Since we're on John the Baptist, which stones was he likely referring to in this verse?

9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Hmm, great question... well He could have been referring to the stones of the Temple that were soon to fall, He could have been referring to Creation since we know they are eagerly waiting for the sons of God, but I think it's probably most Scriptural to say he was talking about us since Peter called us "living stones" and the Spirit writes on the stone "tablets" of our heart. And we have the OT Scripture that says he turns our hearts of stone, to flesh, so I'll say our stoney heart for $1k Ed? Lol.

You are correct, Magenta! :)

Gracie beat you to it, though!!! She gets the gold star! LOL! :D
We posted within the same minute, but my posts take longer to make because I change the font color, size, and type face, plus my post was not accepted the first time I sent it because it was not long enough due to the ten character limit (I added a period after the smilie face, and also changed the color of it to make it invisible, but you can see it if you highlight the post :)). LOL all that to say, congratulations Gracie! :D Also, Cee's guesses helped me remember her name :o

Well, since there is no definitive answer, I guess all of those could be right. But I'm thinking it's the stones Joshua put in the river Jordan. That, and the possibility that he was wearing the mantle of Elijah could explain why he attracted such large crowds and important dudes from Jerusalem.

That's an intriguing answer. I was also thinking to myself, about the ladder at Luz (I think) or maybe it's Bethel, because Jesus does say "sons of Abraham" here. So I believe what He's referring to is before Moses' time.
