It was disobedience due to anger. Moses has letting anger rule his heart instead of love for God.

If we are allowed to reach back to the Old Testament, I'd say God causing the manna to appear every morning...... However, there were only leftovers for one day and only on Friday so they didn't collect manna on the Sabbath.
