This is funny because my first thought was peach, then I saw how red the fruit was and decided it must be an apple.
Oh thank you! I'm usually pretty good at deciphering things like this, but this time I was stumped. (And I ate peach cobbler just last night.)
If people these days actually got shoes repaired instead of just throwing them out and buying new ones I might have got the joke without help.
