Since this is here.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove things like motor oil, transmission fluid, or heavy weight oils from clothing? Specifically, from modacrylic or nomex with a bit of aramid (kevlar) thrown in? Heck from cotton too, although that's probably a lost cause.
Any tips on how to do this without making the washing machine smell like a refinery? I learned my lesson with gun cleaning rags - man that kerosene smell got old fast. Not sure why the banana oil didn't last, but the kero was the only part of hoppes number 9 that was still detectable after the rinse cycle.
ok heres my secret to stains, i use goo gone, a little bit of shout, and dawn dish soap and a tooth brush spray the goo gone down on the spots first, and then the shout/dawn dish soap, use cold water (dont use hot because it bakes in the stain) and scrub the area let it sit for a few mins then throw it in the wash, be careful about using the goo gone though use only a little, it goes a long way, and don't rub it in by itself. this has always taken out any kind of grease stains i have had. works great!
