I’m a Brit so really speaking I should win this contest because we have the best royal family, castles, fish and chips, and Cornish pasties, !!!!!

Okay - I looked up 'pasty' and see what you mean. And, I am thinking that - in the U.S. - that word only has that meaning in the north.
I chose this image because it was the smallest file I could find of Cornish pasties, not that they are necessarily the best. Mary Berry's look like they might be in the runny for best.
I'll go along w/the fish n chips(on my bucket list to get) but the best royal fam....makes me think of Princess Di. Other than that most of my favorite films are based in the UK. So a really close second here lol
Getting older and ruminating on things of the past seem to go hand-in-hand. Scripture says not to dwell on the past, but it's hard not to. Especially when so much that we cherished is gone forever and so much of the world has changed.

I'm so happy that you and others from the UK are here. I've always loved the UK (particularly for the accents,) and though I've never had a chance to visit, I always find it fascinating.
Forgive me if you know this already, but here in the USA, the word "pasties" usually refers to, let's see. How can I explain this on a family friendly-level...
Pasties are basically stickers that exotic dancers use to cover or decorate the middles of their... frontal assets, if you catch my drift -- this is why some people from the USA will seem a little shocked by the word.
I remember the first time I heard it used in the context of hand pies and I thought the person meant to say "pastries" as well, so I was a bit shocked then, too!
It's funny because I listen to a lovely channel hosted by a gentleman in the UK (mostly for the accent!) and I get embarrassed that people from the USA are always trying to "correct" him in the comments, saying he's using or pronouncing certain words incorrectly.
They'll write things like, "that word is pronounced," and he'll just say, "not where I'm from, it isn't!"
Argh. No wonder people in other countries think Americans (from the USA, at least) are so ignorant!

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things (Phil 4:8).
I'm pretty sure these things are enduring so, I wouldn't be so sure that they are 'gone forever' <3
