Other than the ordinary flour, sugar, milk, eggs, salt type of staples, what is one that would really bug you to run out of? Like a certain spice or seasoning or condiment?

What inspired this thread is the annoying fact that we're out of black pepper currently. It's one of my very favorite spices, not only for the flavor but also the appearance of the food it decorates lol.

Yellow mustard. That is my go-to spice for most meats if they are bland.
Also, I like to have an assortment of tea.

Garlic powder and Italian herbs... Yes, black pepper would be sorely missed also!

I can't recall the name but it's a blend of spices, my hubby loves it. The sell it at Wal-Mart in a yellow bottle. Anyhow he puts it on all meats, even after I have added it. lol

Salt and Pepper are of course a must.

But also fresh herbs.
Parsley, thyme, basil, oregano, chives, and sage.
Spices? Caraway, Cinnamon, ginger, clove, allspice, cardamom, bay leaves, chili powder, and cumin.

Also worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar and cider vinegar.

I also usually have at least 4 different flours on hand at all times....currently 5/6.
AP flour
Cake flour
Bread flour
Semolina flour.
Corn meal
Whole wheat flour.

Then two yeasts....sourdough and osmotic yeast.
Celery, carrots. Onions, and garlic.

Then....just because I'm addicted....
Saffron. Nothing beats it or comes close to authentic saffron.
Vanilla beans....sorry, there is no substitute. No extract or paste compares to using whole beans.

Then the chocolate....Callebaut 811. Nothing compares to the real thing baby. Always have a 5kg bag on hand at all times.

Cream cheese, parmesean, cheddar, mozzarella, and of course BUTTER.

Lemon juice, and mayonnaise and Oils....both Extra Virgin and salad oil.

With these things I can produce anything.....literally anything.

From breakfast sausage to eclaires. Cakes and breads...potatoes of all varieties and rice dishes....

Personally I never use staples in the kitchen. If I need something put back together in the kitchen I use glue or duct tape.
Oh, my bad, different type of staples. Carry on.
