Grilled cheese and fried egg sandwich sounds yummy too.I made French toast yesterday also... a first for me in many years
It was probably not as delicious as yours, but a bit of a change
from my more regular grilled cheese and fried egg sandwich![]()

I think that it's a fried grilled cheese and egg sammie. Does sound good though.is that:
1)grilled cheese
2fried egg
OR
1)grilled cheese with fried egg? (that actually sounds kind of good)
Now that definitely sounds scrumptious.I broil sour dough bread in the oven, and then melt cheese on that under the broiler, while an egg or two is frying in my frying pan. It is pretty quick as far as meal prep goes for breakfast... and then I put the egg on top of the cheese on the grilled sour dough![]()
Buying flowers is on the top of my 'honey do' list. I'm trending towards roses.Don't forget to buy the flowers once in a while... It's been a really long time.....lol ( for me that's lots of love, not laugh out loud)...
Yeah, them sparks still a-flying.I guess I was surprised lol it’s the singles thread and some of us have been single too long to remember such thingsLovely to hear you and your wife still have a special connection and haven’t lost the spark yet

My teen likes to remind me that she hates eggs. I also like to remind her that eggs are in her favourite French Toast lolEvery couple months I get in the mood to prepare my specialty for breakfast for my wife, French Toast. It is more like a dessert than a breakfast dish.
She loves the way I prepare it with a special egg mixture and a caramelize topping. To top it off I slice up strawberries with a strawberry glaze. The finishing touch is the whip cream. I buy a loaf of uncut bread and slice it thick like Texas Toast. Fry the slices on a griddle.
Oh yeah, OJ is provided too along with a fork on a napkin. My honey gets excellent table service.
The whole dish looks attractive with the arranged slices on individual plates She is attractive too and as sweet as those luscious berries.
She says that I do it the best.
Can't argue with success.
Yeah, kind of hard to make decent French Toast without eggs.My teen likes to remind me that she hates eggs. I also like to remind her that eggs are in her favourite French Toast lol
Thank you for sharing your recipe! I will try that for sure, makes plain FT so much more fancy hehe. Awesome when recipes are handed downYeah, kind of hard to make decent French Toast without eggs.
I add nutmeg and vanilla extract to my egg mixture. For 6 eggs probably a teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. I cut the bread into 1-inch slices. Use about 1 egg for each piece. I usually make it in batches of 6 pieces, so 6 eggs + one extra egg. Coat bread with mixture, fry in vegetable oil on hot skillet. Cook about 90 seconds, flip, brush melted butter over each slice. Next, sprinkle about teaspoon of sugar on top of butter for each piece. Flip toasts again. Let fry about a minute to caramelize.
Good stuff for sure.
I first started making this for my daughter as she was growing up. Did it every Saturday morning. She makes it the same way for her kids now too.

It is hard to believe that you never have had French Toast. You are missing out on a scrumptious treat for sure. You are right about doing the fries at home. The process is problematic at best. I remember years ago when McDonald's had the best fries. These were fried in beef tallow. Years ago, they caved in to the health nuts and switched to ordinary vegetable oil. Same with the pies too. Used to fry in lard. Now they just bake them. Big difference in taste and texture. Sad.I have never had french toast
But I have had french fries, but only from McDonalds. Cutting up potatoes that thin doesnt work at home!
I guarantee that you will love the results. Most yummy for sure.Thank you for sharing your recipe! I will try that for sure, makes plain FT so much more fancy hehe. Awesome when recipes are handed down![]()

If you enjoy desserts you will definitely enjoy French Toast. It is quite a treat. You can sprinkle confectioners' sugar on top, syrup, or fresh berries. Lot of ways to prepare it and top it off. Bon appétit!well I will have to try it one day (the frnch toast thing) it seems they dont serve it in cafes I mean Ive never seen it
I would prefer a freshly baked croissant or pain au chocolat that my idea of French toast.
You can make French Toast for brunch, whatever time that may be for you. Don't forget the fresh berries and whip cream either. Seriously yummy. Good stuff.I dont know if I can handle dessert for breakfast though. It sounds a bit like waffles or crepes.
whenever I tried to make breakfast for someone else they'd be like dont, I want to sleep in. lol
