Sift together all the coating ingredients and place in a clean plastic bag. Coat each chicken piece first with the beaten egg, then with the flour mixture in the bag. Make sure you coat each piece completely with the flour. Heat the oil in a skillet. Brown the chicken in oil slowly, uncovered. Once browned, cover the skillet and keeping frying on a very gentle heat until the chicken is fully cooked. Place on paper towels to drain out the excess oil.

Just had to share this from a site I found!>

Gasp! The 11 secret herbs and spices?? For really real????

Is flour a herb or a spice....

Anyway sounds great! Thanks for sharing. I'll keep this one. :-)

I'm so going to try out this recipe. Thanks! By the way, what's a skillet? Is it anything like a frying pan?

I believe so TinTin. I think it just means one of those good sturdy heavy bottomed frying pans. I think.

It's also the name of a Christian alternative/rock group, but I wouldn't suggest trying to fry chicken in them...

;)

Let us know how it turns out. :)

I used to love KFC but it's just not the same anymore, not to mention expensive these days. I'd love to be able to replicate the original recipe myself.

If you want real KFC you can't drain the grease, you have to soak in grease, I remember them cooking in pressure cookers way back

Rachel, yes, I'm very familiar with Skillet. They're a great band. I was wondering why they had a frying pan on the front of one of their older album covers.

KFC cooks in a special pressure fryer, DO NOT try this with a regular pressure cooker, you can buy home pressure fryers, but they are designed to fry

THIS CAME OUT FANTASTICLY NICE. THE WHOLE HOUSE SMELLED LIKE KFC, REALLY, THE SPICES DID THE TRICK. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE RECIPE, IT WORKS WONDERS WHEN YOU WANT A CHICKEN AND SPICED UP FOR SURE, REALLY FANTASTC RECIPE. WILL COOK CHICKEN THIS WAY FROM NOW ON. :)

I've been fiddling with this recipe for weeks and changing and modifying things, I used it as a base and created my own recipe from it. This is a pretty traditional recipe thats been around for a long time, a lot of people used to cook their chicken this way. One thing, use a really high quality olive oil when doing the frying, the flavor difference is huge, people are so used to vegetable oil, which basically has no flavor
