I see where more states are not allowing snap benefits to be used for junk food.
When are they going to do the same for food stamps?
It burns me up every time I see a cart full of junk food, frozen meals, and no fresh fruit or vegetables that cost less, in the check out line.

saw a man feed a steak to his dog since he couldn't buy dog food with food stamps.

SNAP is food stamps bro, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

On the topic of food stamps with all its names and variations (like SNAP) i would like to say that my state has done a lot of improvement over the course of 25 years.

Food stamps back in the late 90s and early 00s was basically a blank check that people could cash out and do drugs.
The state caught up with it and switched to Credit Cards (like SNAP). This allowed to state to control where the funds are going and during the course of 10-15 years they even restrict what you can buy and where you can buy.
For example, anything pre-made is considered "restaurant" so they're not going to pay it even if you buy at a grocery store.
And if you try to buy alchool with it, you're flat out denied.

So the state has wisen up over the years basically, because from what i'm told from the locals who have lived here their whole lives, people used to do drugs with those blank checks they used to get and cash them out.

Snap and food stamps are the same thing.
Food stamps cost the average taxpayer around $30 a year and if someone wants to buy a Snickers on food stamps and I don't think it's anything to get my underwear in a twist about

The problem is that allot of these recipients are disabled. They go right for the junk food and don't like vegetables.

Did not know they were the same. We called them food stamps in the past.
I am not talking about some one buying a Snickers bar, I am talking about a mother with kids who buys junk food for those kids and not healthy food because she is to lazy to cook a descent meal for them.
A cart full of chips, sodas, candy, frozen fries, etc.

These food are cheaper than real food like meat, fruits, veggies, etc. People on food stamps have a choice between cheap healthy food like beans, rice, canned veggies, even eggs are expensive, etc which can get boring or cheap food which tastes good and is quick. A cart full of real food is very expensive.

I disagree.
But ones needs to know how to prepare it.
A bag of chips is $5 for a few ounces. Sodas are $2 for a 2 liter.
18 eggs are $4.29, A gallon of milk is less than $4.
A pound of ground beef is $5 and can be used to make a lot of pasta and rice dishes.
Eating only junk food will eventually lead to medical bills.

when i first went vegetarian i would go to Trader joes and just fill up a cart of vegetables fruits tofu and cheese. every time i thought wow this is so much cheaper then what i use to buy. We only shop once or twice per month to keep the snack buying down but most Americans go to the super market 2-3 times a week so its hard for people to resist all the snack they can buy.

A cheap frozen meal is only about $1.99 (not the Stouffers). A bag of chips and soda should last a few days or more at least. I think people also want to eat "fun" food rather than eating boring rice and beans or rice and eggs all the time. I think the poor do realize junk food can be expensive, like a bag of chips can be one hour worth of pay, and it is cheaper to buy cheaper ingredients and cook at home. That said the poor buy the cheap frozen meals in bulk like the 99 cent Banquet meals or the frozen burritos, because considering the time and expense involved to cook, that option may be cheaper.

Perhaps there is a connection. The science of Neural Pasticity supports this.

it makes me sad to see people who are too overweight to walk, riding around in a electric cart, and the cart is filled with junk food.

sad.

By the time Trump leaves office, a Lot of people are going to be hurting, A LOT of people. IMO, only the well-to-do will be happy with the way things are.

At times it's the only way for people to understand the reason why and best to be put in another's shoes. Begging for food has educated a many.
