Jesus granted you days of life in order to be useful in His hands.

Most of the people are used to hanging about in the entertainment places, mainly on the weekends. Meanwhile the grains of our life are slowly flowing off in the hourglass of our life. Notwithstanding, we can’t forget that:

“God has added one more day in your life not necessarily because you need it but because someone else might need you.”

This matches what is written in Isaiah:

  • “What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall trust in it.” (Isaiah 14.32).

Meanwhile, Ha-Satan is running after many people trying to devour them (1Peter 5.8,9), as came about Jerusalem for their sins (Lam 3.39):

  • “For these I weep; my eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who could refresh my soul is far from me. My sons are desolated because the enemy prevails.” (Lam 1.16).

Back away from plans that keep you involved in the things of this life (Luke 21.34). This can entrap you and pierced you through with many sorrows. (1Tm 6.7-10). Make your life worthwhile for all people around you and experiment a enjoyable week in Christ Jesus.

I hear what you are saying and I understand that our life is not to be a series of meaningless entertainments. This is true. I would also offer a different thought. I believe that we were given the need to find our purpose. Our purpose is to be in relationship with God. Our relationship with him is why we were created. Pointless entertainment is a way of being distracted from our need for God, from the emptiness in our hearts if we are without that relationship. This life is a temporary place and we have only a short time to find the meaning of our lives. Heaven is not just a higher level of distraction or luxury. It is to be reconciled.
The other things we do in terms of obedience and service is an outpouring of the relationship with God. Without it, then we have cold religion that is more servitude than celebration.
In church today we were challenged to examine what we are seeking this fall. Where will be be putting our time and effort? We were reading John 6 and seeing that the people were seeking more proofs and miracles. They wanted the temporal and the sensational. Jesus looked to direct them back to what they really needed.
Relationship with God is the journey and the truest blessing.
