what area are you talking about, or what country? one can easily discern who is wealthy & who isn't. but i understand your statement. sometimes rich people play that game to find out what category someone is in. because they may be thinking of becoming friends is 1 reason.
huh well little rich kids are always talking about what kind of car their parents drive and how many they have, what holidays they go on, it's sometimes like a boast, and the poor kids can't answer back. Its not cool to boast that your parents drive a beater, can't afford holidays...
I know because I overhear them lol. You can't always easily discern esp if all kids wear the same uniform and go to the same school. But I do remember high school had this kind of subtle heirarchy when I went. Anyway no big deal, just an observation.

It makes people uncomfortable, when it comes to discussions about money and who will pay the bill at a restaurant for example. Should you go for the cheapest meal? Or the most expensive? Or will you go dutch? Thankfully a lot of restaurants are ok with people splitting the bill according to what they ordered.

yea its annoying, esp church people asking what do you do for work. I didn't know why people kept asking this until I found out that they just don't want to hang with a poor person like me. Also...tithes. To rich people, tithes are small change, nothing. To the poor, they are everything. Not having enough to put food on the table and pay bills is very humbling. Often when people come into money or born with silver spoon in their mouth they become proud, and arrogant.

I just don't like that attitude as if money is everything. It makes people feel if they cannot contribute monetarily, they are seen as worthless. There are many reasons why someone would be unemployed, and not just because they could be lazy.
a ubiquitous truth. i remember once, for a month, all i had for money was a jar of pennies, not even a dollar to my name. but that was because the band, in 1982, splurged on a whole pa sound system & a bought a new drum set.

Yes well they become misers. I've also come across racial profiling, like certain people don't like others because they think people of a certain race or greedy, or would steal their stuff.
I mean it happens. but its very uncomfortable if you are the one being judged.

I'm in this club with dwindling membership, and prices have gone up for rent, and some can't afford subs. Some members think raising prices would be too much and then they go to other, richer clubs and feel out of place. It's the whole Titanic class thing I suppose. Can't do anything about it.

That's why men, say they are poor and like a rich girl, would say 'she's out of my league' because they wouldn't be able to afford the lifestyle she's accustomed to. And fair enough because it takes a lot of $$ to maintain, esp if the gal isn't working herself to cover costs of housing, clothing, food, holidays, beauty, pets, hobbies etc not to mention children. Formal dates are also not cheap. A decent dinner, not even in a fine dining restaurant could cost upwards of $100 per head.
this reminds me of some of my customers. the poorest people, sometimes never question a job price & will give a tip, while on the side, wealthy people will try to get you to reduce the price quite a bit & complain. fortunately, for me, this nearly never happens, but like you said, money is for some people, their god. once, i had to cut & remove a huge willow tree. no one wants willow because it's not burnable, it draws yellow jackets & it's a nuisance wood. it even smells bad. so the guy tells me: "i got to go on vacation to connecticut for 2 weeks & then we'e going to florida, can you lower the price"? yes, you get it. he fell right into his own trap. i said, "if it was a hard wood, i can have somebody pick it up who wants it for burning, but non one wants willow wood". he still complained but paid the price for the job.

Now this is getting interesting! Good points, both of you.

I am reminded of a standard mexican restaurant menu item, "Special Dinner For Two" (a little bit of everything.) It usually has a chili relleno, taco, tamale, burrito, guac salad, rice and beans.

But... Even THAT comes on two plates...
All very true. But if you make one order of anything, it will come on one plate. And then you can ask for an extra plate if you don't want to cross forks. Of course some people think it's a bit disgusting to share a plate, especially something like spaghetti; but meat in pieces probably wouldn't.

Noted..the tramp was cheap lol
But it was the way to the lady's heart.

Hi guys! Just posting in answer to the title of this thread:

Name One Thing That You Find Romantic -- And One Thing You Don't.

I actually came across something that I consider to be both. It's this song! It's in Japanese and I didn't know what it was saying. It's so cheerful sounding and cute! If you don't know Japanese, take a listen to it....

たぶん

It sounds so cute and cheerful doesn't it? Then I found it's official music video with the English translation...

YOASOBI "Probably" Official Music Video

It's actually about a relationship that didn't work out! So it's sad, but set to cheerful music giving it a somewhat bittersweet tone. You could have knocked me over with a feather! I did not see that coming!

Anyway, I still like it - love the melody and arrangement, and thought the combination of cheerful melody and sad lyrics to create that bittersweet tone was clever. I learned a little later that Japanese songs can tend toward that! It's an interesting world we live in!

Humm !!
What ( to me ) is perfect "romance" between a potential husband and wife ... a man and a women become as one flesh and one mind !

That would have to be for this "potential" couple, to be of "one accord" Acts 2:1

It's simple math :-)
If I love Jesus with all my heart, and adopt His Character, By FAITH,
and a potential "wife" has this same character, ...

Then we will be in perfect love with each other ... "of one accord"
If A is to C(hrist), as B is to C, then A = B = LOVE ... simple logic / math
= my definition of marriage

~~ Blessed Sabbath Folks ~~~

The serenade is not a just a song about someone, it is a song specifically directed to someone.

And here is an amped-up version of the serenade
