I am just using your own words describing modern Israel when we read ancient Israel was horrible and wicked. And yes, the Messiah came because that was promised and foretold to Abraham and the many many Prophets. God still chose the ancient wicked perverse Israel as His Own and modern day Israel is nothing close to the wickedness of 2,500 years from ancient Israel.

God no longer needs a people set apart for the purpose of bringing forth the Messiah, to show a lineage, to validate who He was.
