Yeah amen makes sense. remember daniels four beasts ? With seven heads and ten horns ? Prior to the son of man coming in the clouds and receiving his kingdom in heaven at gods throne ?Yes agree, and it very stated right at the beginning that the book is about the revealing of Christ Jesus.
Not about matching current events and seeing how and when it lines up with the Book.
The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
Agree, also helpful to keep in mind the language and the symbolism is to protect those receiving the letters, that is why the beast and other people and places are not named but are given "covert" names, but the people to whom the letters were written could put it together.
“Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, …..And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, …..After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”
Daniel 7:2-8, 13-14 KJV
apocalypse of that same thing is found in revelation
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”
Revelation 13:1-2 KJV
Johns vision is more than half way through he’s seeing past present and future in one beast
… And there are seven kings:
five are fallen,( past ) and one is, ( johns present) and the other is not yet come; ( johns near future probably Nero ) and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
( notice this is a different occurrence in the future after the seventh head one of the heads returns with ten companion kings and makes the war against the lamb and is destroyed when he returns )
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; ( future ) but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. ( not a literal hour but very brief time period )
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of Lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” 14 KJV
The New Testament really is apacalyptic coming from the old , revelation especially with its imagery . Almost every image is coming from some Old Testament prophecy or New Testament teaching or event regarding Jesus and his kingdom
Like the lamb who’s been slain yet lives appearing before on throne at the right hand of God . These are things the gospel teaches about Jesus who is the lamb of god who died for our sins and rose again and then ascended to the throne at gods right hand . The image Carries the understanding of doctrine . Like Jesus dying for our sins and yet still being alive forever like the lamb John sees at the throne who receive the praise and glory and his kingdom as all creation begins worshipping God and the lamb
Or Like the lambs seven eyes ?
“Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”
Zechariah 3:8-9 KJV
this then leads to another study of course regarding the branch of the lord the bright and morning star Jesus Christ but that’s another path ….
All of those images in revelation are references from prophecy and doctrines of the Bible it’s apacalyptic in nature the book of revelation i mean
it’s really an amazing book
