Ok, so as Christians we are only to like outgoing, attractive people and turn our backs on the ugly ones?

Yes. I once dated a guy who I thought was eeeww. That was not smart. It was not so much physical but the expression in his eyes and he turned out to be on drugs and into false teaching. Looks say a lot.
I wouldn't put it like that, but as it pertains to relationships? Yes. Like they say: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just because I theoretically find someone unattractive, it doesn't mean that someone else does. People(even christians) are allowed to and should find someone that they're attracted to... for so many reasons. There's nothing wrong with that; It's actually quite normal.
I think it matters a little, but you can become attracted to anyone if you take the time to get to know their personality and how they are as a person. I'm tired of being friends with guys for long periods of time to just be cast off to the side when someone "more attractive" comes along. I'm tired of being called ugly and too unattractive to ever be marriage material. So go ahead and pick the more attractive person, but never forget about the one that you passed over who had all the qualities you looked except her physical appearance wasn't up to par.

Interesting question, but also.....should one intentionally date someone they are not attracted to and have no romantic interest in for the sake of attaining some kind of equality? That's equally as ridiculous.

Hey everyone. I've been married the 24 years so I thought I'd give my side to this question.
You know what I'm thankful for ? A hard working responsible man that takes care of his family. And oh he's great looking. But you know what makes him attractive to me? Him coming home every night.
Guys I'll give you this advice. Looks will fade as hard as we try.
I also came to the conclusion at great looks ain't gonna put food on my table.
I pray for you.
I have three adult children who we talk about this stuff. Being attracted to someone at first then getting to know them is backwards. You will become attracted to someone when you get to know them.
Keep Christ first my friends.

it is. but a serious relationship is beyond physical attraction. we cant not decide to have a relationship based on physical attraction.
I think everyone is attractive in the sense that we are all God's creations. God doesn't create anything ugly. So for someone to not think someone is phsycially attractive, in my opinion that is saying God did not do a good enough job physically on that person. I know I'm in the minority in this but this is how I've always felt, even before coming to Christ.

I find beauty in ALL people. Honestly, whether it's a smile, or eye color, or just their hands or the way they talk or behave... everyone has their own brand of beauty. I'm not physically (romantically) attracted to all people. That would be exhausting.

Being phsycially attractive and being physically attracted to someone are two different things. We can't be physically attracted to our own kids. If someone is then there really is something going on up there in that brain. But when it comes to dating if someone says "I don't find that person phsycially attractive" it comes across saying for that person's taste, God didn't do a good enough job physically.
Sometimes it is because the person does not take care of what God gave them. That is especially not attractive to people who do bother to take care of themselves.
Or, different strokes for different folks. Its just silly to think we are attracted to all types of people because that is furthest from the truth

If a person doesn't take care of him or herself and is a bum, then that's different. Jesus even gets angry at those who just waste away their gifts. It's no differe t than wasting one's body. But to say "different strokes for different folks" is (to me) essentially some of God's strokes aren't appealing. There's something physically attracted about each and every one of us.
Just to throw an interesting kink in all this, because I'm a troll like that...

This is in reference to Jesus. I really do get what you're saying. But I can also see that some "pots" are more beautifully crafted than others. The Bible speaks of some people being especially beautiful, and others being quite common.
This is all unrelated to the actual topic though I suppose, which is "is physical attraction important". The topic implies actual physical attraction toward someone.

I don't think it has anything to do with it for some. God's purpose will stand. If anyone knows the Beveres, Lisa wasn't attracted to John at all but God told her they'd be married.
I wonder what would happen if God spoke to us today like He did back then. "Wait, God, you want me to be with HIM?! But he's not talk enough." or "God you want me to be with HER? She a little big" I have a feeling People would be trying to rationalize why they shouldn't be with said person. Also for whatever reason, your post reminded me of an article I came across. About how both men were convinced God told them to marry a specific woman. I forget how it turned out, but I can imagine it had to make things just a bit awkward.
