Is being obsessed with God bad?

I don't feel like I am, but some of my family members who are not Christian and one who is has said this. I am not sure what to think of it. Mostly I am hurt I guess because I think of being obsessed with something as bad, but then I think that it is God so it is good to be obsessed? I am not sure. I don't really think I am. What do you think... If I were to be obsessed with God would it be bad? And what should I do about my family members saying this?
 
Ecclesiastes DOES say that you need to find a balance between wisdom and wickedness. I don't think it's necessarily a BAD thing, unless it's interfering with you actually LIVING a Godly life.

actually be zealous for God, don't let men put down your fire. They are wanting you to be like them, when you are not obsess with Him you might fall away and be like the world.

Keep that fire burning sister, it is good to be going after God like that. Go to Him with love and faith.....I am obsessed......

have you heard of Jesus' freaks? Well i am and we are Crazy for God (Obsessed)

Christians should be Jesus' freaks,,,,(Jesus freaks are Zealous for God)
 
Being obsessed with god is a brilliant thing! :) Seek it out and ignore all who tell you otherwise.

WHAT??!! There is no balance between wisdom and wickedness, but there is a balance of wisdom and wickedness. And this is wisdom:

Flee sin and obey Jesus. Do not commit evil in your hearts, because God is not evil. He is righteous. So be perfect as he is perfect.
 
Loving God is a 24/7 burning passion that unbelievers cannot fathom. I have crosses and scripture all over my room and my facebook statuses. I'm not obsessed - I'm a Christian, it's a way of life! :D

If there is one thing that is ok to be obsessed about its God. David was obsessed with God, Daniel was obsessed with God, Abraham was obsessed with God, Jacob was obsessed with God, John the Baptist was obsessed with God, All the greatest preachers are/were obsessed with God...shall I go on? :)

amberann, dis people are unbelievers, what were u expecting dem to do, encourage ur walk with God?. I'll be suprised if dat's d case, Coz my dad and bro do everything to like *TORMENT* me. if u get what i mean.I even got a nickname PASTOR.My unbelieving friends call me dat purposely to tease me.

But all those don't matter. being *Obsessed* with God is a gr8 tin, dat way u'll find it more diff to sin and offend him and dat on the other hand increases ur chances of making it to our glorious home *HEAVEN*... Keep d passion burning :) ok.. I'll love u meet u in HEAVEN... @ GOD Bless!!!
 
amberann. it really depends on the motive of why they told you. If you are one of those people who constantly shower people with the bible and speeches about God maybe that's why they are saying that. But if you do that and you do that with a heart that is in sorrow for those who don't know God and you are doing it to bring God the glory then you are doing everything correctly. But remember the most important thing in our lives is our devotion to God, and to aim to live set apart for Him
 
My family calls me crazy for God because I go to church 3 times a week. It doesn't take much for people to think you are obsessed but its a good thing. At least they know what matters to you.
 
GOD's obsessed with HIS children, right? Well, HE is thrilled that HIS child loves HIM so much!
Don't listen to your family. They need to listen to you.

What passage is it? The only thing I could find was Ecclesiastes 3:1-7 but it's not even about this...

Obsession - in society's terminology is a bad thing. However as many of the people above have said - you cant love God too much because He still loves you more, so you can never be TOO much for God. However you can obsess over God's word but are you living it, that is the final question here, if you are living a God seeking, loving, living-the-walk life, then you are just a good christian, that is all.

The bible DOES tell you to rejoice when the world persecutes you for Christ. because it means people are seeing God in you, not just cause you say you attend church weekly.

so stay Zealous for God! and be obsessed with God - rather be Righteous than Wicked!

although here is a little wisdom nugget - dont be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. this is saying that although you should be obsessed with God, dont be so like sin conscious that if you go outside to the shops that you might sin lest your eyes lay upon a man haha. basically be obsessed with God but don't be ignorant that the world is here, that we live in it and we need to know how the world works in order to know how to not act that way
 
What?! Of course not. We're called Jesus Freaks for a reason.Keep your mind on God and his word!obsess-to dominate or preoccupy thoughts, feelings, or desires. That's exactly what God want us to do. Don't let sinners change what you have with God. That's only him working through his people, trying to get you not obsessed with him or with him at all, which is what the devil wants....Keep up the obsession sis!!!
 
As long as you respect the beliefs of others and don't try to push your religion's rules on everyone else, and don't make people your God doesn't like miserable because you feel like they deserve it, than you're alright. If only most Christians could do all of that.
 
It isn't bad to be obsessed, however, Jesus hates the hypocrites and religions, and religious people. Remember that Jesus came to the earth to save the lost, and he came to the earth to serve, not being served. He never had home, as he always travel and meet different people.

By saying that, I encourage you to be obsessed with God but always hold your ground, be earthly and humble, always relate yourself to those who are lost and not knowing God. Some Christians tend to stay on their comfort zone, and this is not right.
 
To be honest with you,that is what the world says to a Christian...we are obsessed,fanatic with God,but they can be with football,gambling,possesion,jobs and the list goes on........endless.I don't know if you heard about Keith Green...go on youtube and type Keith Green,he was which I call bananas for Jesus,crazy for Jesus,His song his life just was JESUS.You can contact his wife Melody Green,she has a site with a beutiful ministry.By the way Keith died when he was 28 years old in a plan crash he was a loss for us but a Blessing for the world.He also wrote lovely songs that you can still buy and praise the Lord for his life.I can say he was obsessed with Jesus God only son.
Don't say anything to your family but let them see Jesus through your action,your attitude and your life.
Keep trust in the Lord
