What do you think are inappropriate questions to ask a close or relatively close friend? I specify close friend or relatively close because the boundaries can be blurred because we consider them close.

Some examples I can think of are:
Are you/When are you planning to have a baby?
What marriage issues do you have?
What is your salary?
How much money do you have?
What medications are you taking?

I believe the above information should be volunteered first.

What questions do you consider too intrusive?

Any that doesn't talk about the Lord, a good comeback is "why do you ask?"

Any question that I wouldn't want them to ask me, unless it's something I really NEED to know... like "What medications are you taking?" when I'm about to be putting all their pills in a little weekly container from now.

If it's information I wouldn't want to give them, I probably shouldn't ask them for it unless there's a good reason.

Same. But, we may be comfortable giving out information (like salary) but the other person may not be.

I don't ask any one any question that I don't want to b asked , unless it's something very important that I really need to know , such as : have u passed your driving test ? do u really know how to re wire my stereo ? do u honestly know how to calm a rabid put bull ? can u swim ? do u know how to fly a plane ? why do have so many knives in your pocket ? etc .
I don't mind people asking me anything as long as people don't mind me saying ' I prefer not to answer that '
I think that sometimes it's important to ask questions though . My hubby's ex wife took his five daughters and moved several hundred miles away from him when they were small children , so they weren't brought up with him . He has always seen them regularly and when they started to get a little bit older I would ask him questions about them and he would say ' I don't know , I don't like to ask them ' . He said he felt as if he was intruding / interrogating them , putting them on the spot and asking them personal things . I said ' but if u don't ask them about their lives , they may think that u r not interested in them and that might hurt their feelings ' . When it comes to our loved ones , we have to get the balance right .
