I'm all in favor of limiting single topics to one giant mega thread.

It's annoying when searching the conspiracy and news forums for example that 90% of the threads are about 1 topic. I would be in favor in moderating stuff like this and keeping things to one single thread. Other sites like Reddit does this to prevent multiple posts about the same thing. Thus let other post about something else without being drowned out.

I believe this has been suggested but they simply wouldn't do it. No idea why.

dont know if it would work on a forum like this because then you would get pages and pages to wade through if you werent following it everyday.
But yea I agree that on some forums theres too many threads on the same topic. But I guess some topics have so many angles to it. I guess it depends on how you use the forums, whether you just go to the newest or latest, or you search by thread topic

News for example, is news because it is NEW. Not because its old. Old news is rather a misnomer. And it might be new to someone whos never heard it before.

maybe...as an idea just for the news topic...that you cant post on a thread thats older than say a week.
to keep it fresh? If its news it has to be new.
