I am a 20-year-old Christian. I am finally getting ready for my baptism. But I am afraid. I am afraid that my family will judge me for my faith. My family is not really Christian, but they celebrate Christmas and Easter. I am the only one who goes to church every Sunday. My mother knows that I believe in God and Jesus Christ and that I will be baptised. He accepts me. I'm not sure about my father, younger brother and sister. I am afraid of being ridiculed. My father doesn't have a very good opinion of religion and the church, or so I think. His father, my grandfather, didn't like religion either. My brother and sister also sometimes fool me, like "Have you prayed". Is anyone in a similar situation?

Ridicule and persecution go hand in hand with sticking to your guns. Consider Jesus himself. He was not only beaten and hung on a cross, but also ridiculed with a crown of thorns and a sign above his head saying "King of the Jews".
Peter himself feared ridicule while Jesus was being persecuted, to the point of denying he even knew Jesus at all.

Plenty of stories in and out of the bible of people being ridiculed and persecuted.
No doubt when its family it makes it more difficult, but it's up to you to decide how to handle it.
Often times the best way to deal is not through lots of argument and debate but by living your faith and letting that show to those that ridicule. Evidence is more powerful than being on the defensive and going back and forth with people.

Jesus assured us, "Be not afraid for I am with you always." And, not to worry about ridicule as Jesus promised, " “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven will be great."

And it's very possible that those in your family who aren't faithful Christians will see you and follow your example. Lead others to Christ. Maybe Jesus and the Holy Spirit are using you to bring others to Christianity.

I understand how you feel. Just remember that they are family and love you. They might not understand why you want to get baptized. Maybe start here and it will be easier to explain to them.

I decided to get baptized because I always wanted to join the church. All my life, there has been a force that has drawn me to the church. When I finally started going to church and pray, my life wasn't empty anymore. Although I was almost straight-A student in high school, my life seemed kinda empty. Something was missing.
And also:
When I was 16 I started visiting the church, but for some reason I stopped. I don't know why. Then, at almost 18 years old I came down with bad mental problems, eating disorder or some thing. I was starving myself and making myself sick if I thought that I ate too much. It want on almost 2 years. Then something happened. It was right before Easter 2021. I was thinking about my eating problems. I decided to pray fo them to go away. And although It was just a short prayer, Our father. But the next day I was so relaxed around food and my body. More than ever before.

There are more than enough reasons for me to baptize and declare my faith in Lord and Jesus Christ.

Thanks for sharing your personal testimony with me Spela. That touches my heart.
You mentioned how God answered your simple prayer and I can see that He did.
I'm happy for you! With God, all things are possible. I've seen Him heal my Dad, my brother and me miraculously too. They were different challenges, but know God did them.

When I was around 16 I also started going to church again. To this day I'm grateful someone took the time to ask me a question about heaven and provided some promises from the Bible. A man asked me if something happened to me today, if I was 100% sure if I would go to heaven.
Do you know 100% for certain if you are going there some day, even if you didn't get baptized yet?

I also come from a background where I feel they will ridicule me for being an open follower of Jesus or worshipping with all my heart. There's a complicated scenario at my house. I don't know how to even tell or whom to confide in. It feels horrible and abnormal.
