In my own experience I noticed all these things right after 911. I was in a ministry that was concerned about the persecution of Christians in Sudan as a result of Muslims trying to drive them from the country so they could implement Sharia law. Because of that I was quite aware of the situation in the Mideast and knew that Iraq was a secular government and the idea they were supporting an Al Qaeda attack on the US didn't make any sense. What I noticed was people who just a week earlier couldn't have cared less about the political and religious dynamics of the Mideast and knew nothing about it are now telling me to shut up and blame Iraq or else. Asking questions was not allowed because you would expose how ignorant everyone was. They assume since they didn't know anything neither did anyone else so do whatever the experts tell you. Of course we have seen this ten times over since the Covid Pandemic.
