I was living in Quebec at my parents house when the THE ice storm of '98 occured. Interestingly, almost the entire power grid went down except for the region in which we were living. But our power would be suspended and electricty routed to those without power for so many hrs of the day.

We also had a huge wood stove in the (finished) basement so that sure proved valuable.

So, I hope everyone really understands that this is not going to be an easy time. Take the precautions and don't think it will be nothing.

I was there

Yikes, that is bad for Quebec. I remember one year they had a bad storm in Toronto and had to call in military to help get the city going again. People on the east coast were dyin' laughing at the city people who couldn't remove their own snow. lol

If I'm not mistaken, I think the same storm did occur in Toronto too. Ottawa...and so on. Roofs were falling in, people died (some fell off of roofs) and more. My younger brother and I shoveled off our parents roof cause it was a thick layer of ice with alot of snow on top.

Well I mean Toronto, yah know? LOL!

So yeah....looked it up and it seems even NB shared in that mess. You would not believe how thick the ice was on literally everything!

Ice is the biggest enemy. I recall one year we were coming "off the road" back from Ontario I think. Bad ice and snow storm. Stopped at my aunt and uncles place on the way home. We had a 33ft motor-home. When we tried to stop it just kept going. I could see us ending up in the ditch so I jumped out. Finally got it stopped from ending up in the ditch but we were good and stuck. So we called in a tow truck and it started to slide into the motor-home. Called out the DOT with the salt truck, couldn't get IT to stop sliding. By this time every man in the neighborhood is there watching and giving advice. Everybody grabbed a shovel and spread salt around until there was enough grip to get the motor-home and the tow truck and the salt truck off the hill. It was like the Icecapades but for big rigs. rofl After all that was done I came out to get back on the motor-home and slipped and smashed my head on the ice. Four hours later in the emergency room the doc told me I had a concussion. And before anyone gets to it, yes that is why I'm such a dummy today. (y)

Whoah! Talk about a chain of events! Icecapades but for big rigs...good one.

Rain in the winter is the worst. I've never gone off the road myself, but have seen a good number of vehicles that did. Best to stay home if you can.

I didn't have the driving responsibilities luckily. I've traveled a lot in my day. If I had a nickel for every mile I could buy and sell Elon. But that's another story.

We should all pray fervently.

I'm going to post this in the prayer section if nobody has yet.
More people should see it .

He just reported that 90% of the power in Nashville is out. Also, he didn't say Nashville city but Nashville county, I don't know enough about Tennessee to know if I misheard that or if Nashville is in Nashville county.

Nashville is in Davidson County.

I’m a weirdo when it comes to this stuff. My family and friends don’t get how I can be rooting for foot and a half of snow or hopefully more! I love it!
Times have changed. Back when outlying Chicagoland to Detroit area was instep with the rest of the western snow belt for snowfall, you was seldom disappointed. If your past is among these areas, you know snow machines have largely become all but obsolete in the lower great lakes and out east area.
