I’m tired of dating sites. I’m tired of dates where someone wants something from you. I’m tired of saying to them “I want to get to know you” and they ask “well what do you want to know” like I’m gonna be able to ask all the questions I could ever want to ask right then and there.

I want a best friend. A best friend who I can fall in love with maybe someday. Someone who is more concerned about getting to know me instead of what I can offer them as a girlfriend. A godly best friend. I want falling for him to not even be in my brain. Just suddenly realizing how much me means to me.

And before that -before all of that- I want for God to be my best friend first. My first love first. Because then I know I’ll have the right perspective before any of this is even considered.

I giggle because your last paragraph kept me giving a 100,000 word dissertation on why God is our best friend. So thanks for sharing that last bit...

Wanting a best friend, one who is interested in your every day thoughts and feelings and you his, makes perfect sense. I would want a fella who knows how to listen but also shares His thoughts too. I think finding a listener is the most challenging part. It all has to be organic too, not forced.

Sounds to me that you want a mutually invested, heart, mind and soul, God centered relationship...reasonable to me.

Artsie, from what I can tell, you have so much to offer. I pray that your some one who also has lots to contribute is found sooner than later, Lord willing ofc. You deserve to have someone who means so much to you, and you to he.

I agree with you in that if you do get married you want to marry your best friend. That's what I did too. Yes, a Godly best friend. Your estimation is right on target in regards to a enduring relationship leading to marriage. This is probably the best post that I have read of yours and I am in full agreement.

I pray that you meet the right person for you Artsie. A man that is firstly a christian, who puts God first. Someone who is faithful, kind, loving and is the best friend you are seeking. May God keep you in peace and patient as you wait. May he keep you busy so waiting doesn't feel so tedious and may the necessary work be done in you by his spirit before you meet in Jesus name. Amen.

AS,
you are a very 'artful' person, and often this can be a barrier for others who are not -
just be patient and 'don't look for 'love' darling, may our Sweet Lord send this gift to you...

Steph you always continue to impress me with how much you have grown since I first met you, you are dating with all the right reasons and motives and you always place God first. your quirky and bubbly nature is adorable and any man who doesn't think that isn't worth it you have such a caring and patient nature your so artsty and nerdy and even your insecurities show the pureness of your heart.

These are facts not flattery maybe instead of dating sites if you guys are not in lock down in Arizona go to a place where like minded nerds love to be maybe try to make friends there if you can find a place like that. or if you are wanting to try online try going to sites that have these kinds of things you could even show off your drawings and you might meet some amazing people there who you may even end up with at the end

I am in complete agreement with you on this!! May God grant our hearts desires. I had this for 38 years, not sure I will get another chance, if not I am really pretty ok with it, I sometimes wonder if I could even relate to another man intimately.

Thanks all. I thought I’d found just this recently, but I guess I was too impatient. Need to let myself just really rely on Gods timing
