I usually read it every night before I go to bed - I view it as a routine of mine, but one I love to do. It's my time to learn more about scripture and grow closer by talking to God.

Yeah sure thing. it's the only weapon we have.. the Word of GOD.. the truth is inside it. I do read it everyday.. I mean, i just get a verse and start with it..

I havn;t read in the last 2 days cause of work and school...and my own laziness.
However, i usually read it everyday from about 10 minutes to an hour. I usually use apologetic and life application bibles. If you;d ask my friends how much I've high lighted in one of them they'd say "too much" haha

I got a daily Devo!, if you want to make, and not be a panzified christian, you gotta be in the word, and know what belongs to you, and also know how to take it!, Get authority! boom! I love his word, it'll pump you up too, like sometimes I'm tired and energetic and didn't really feel like I could see myself getting threw the day, and then after my devotional not only do I see myself getting threw the day I'm am physically engergized, and I'm so so ready to go and minister!
Something one of our leaders tells us, if you haven't done your daily devotional, you might aswell not open your mouth, because God hasn't given you anything to say for that day, your without arms, your powerless, anything that comes out of you will be from your heart, and not his....of course thats not true if your speaking the word, but even then sometimes without a devotional we sometimes share the word out of context...like we don't know what scripture to share with people, because our eyes haven't been opened that day...anyways it's spiritual and important that we don't pass up days without God!

man, i ALWAYS have trouble reading my bible. i know it's important. i used to read it everyday last year. i was doing book for book. now, i find myself reading only once in a while and when i go to church. I can't help it! i feel guilty when i think about it, but i forget to read my Bible! help?

Maybe a devotional book could help? There are many around that give a passage of the Bible to read, and then have a short bit on what it means. I used to use them myself, but now just go through various Biblical books, maybe a chapter a day, each morning, as well as prayer.
It can be hard to commit yourself to the Bible sometimes.
You're hardly alone. But if you can make it a habit of reading the Bible and praying, either at the beginning or end of the day, then it would be a blessing. It doesn't have to be a long time - God has never stipulated the length of time it takes us to do such things. Quality is what counts.

Developing a consistant devotional isn't easy...and it maybe not happen immediately, but one thing is for sure, when you KNOW you need help, instead of sulking like we do sometimes talk to a leader, ask them for scripture referances, and things that you might have thought the bible say as irrelevant or maybe you didn't see how Gods word could assist you, will now seem like safetly net, and the more you realize how much you need it, the easier it will be to make it a daily habit, and something you actually look forward too.

it's hard... I have like 2 or 3 devotional book thingies, but i can't do it every single day... And i know i have to do it, I have to, it's my responsability, but i can't. that's the part of my life that i'm missing, and it just happens to be one of the most important parts.
My devotional is just 2-3 chapters in new testament, 1 proverb, 1-2 in old testament. And I just read chapter after chapter...and then start over. I know what you mean by saying its a responsibility, but once you get beyond it, because something we tend to do when we don't enjoy something is make it a chore, or a burden, and we don't want Jesus to be a burden. So something that will help you is that you really just sit down, talk to some leaders, and strengthen your relationship with Christ, and receive a passion to be in his word. It wasn't something i just started doing, I really desire to be more connected to Christ, and know more about who I am. It all becomes more important, when Jesus becomes more important to you!, so something you need to do is open up your eyes to the value of him. Not just stating facts, but really getting to know him...him! its not easy for me to show you the difference I'm talking about. but I really encourage you to attack this while you still recognize it as a problem, and its not devotionals that we have a problem with...ya know what I mean, or commitment, its about our love, because your absolutely committed to that which you love...so check your heart. If you find barriers there!, then talk to a leader about those things. and once you really broke free of whatever it is, and you can then love Jesus with all your heart, devotionals are awesome! and a blessing! not a burden!

I was thinking of all that yesterday. I've been trying to find a barrier, but i can't. I can't find something that's obstructing. And maybe the barrier isn't what's there, it's what's not there. Cuz i keep feeling like something's missing. And I guess what I'm missing is the love, but then, it's not just the love, it's any sort of feeling. I just do things because i do them. I know how much i need Him, i know. I know that I need to do something.
