But seriously, I shouldn't complain about the cold winter weather in the northern climate where i've been living for 20+ years because this place has been very good to me.

So yes, i don't enjoy winter but it's one of God's seasons and it has its beauty.

Around these parts it’s 20F and snowing like crazy. Snow flakes big as seagulls and wind that would make Chicago envious.

Yet, everything’s okay. No power outages, no roads been blocked, air traffic is running and the marine sector is good.

Not too shabby as far as winter goes here on the NC coast. Lows rarely go too far below freezing mark and highs are mid 50s to upper 40s sometimes. Very windy though but we don't have to worry about any blizzards around these here parts

Snow tomorrow and negative temps for the next 3 nights. We got fuel, some food, and plenty of toilet paper. I don't know if I'll ever have enough coffee stocked up though.

Hey Everyone,

Here in the USA, winter storm warnings are raging across the country. Blizzards and freezing temperatures are sweeping across many states. In my own area, we had a power outage last week, but fortunately it only lasted a few hours. (Many thanks to @Talljake and everyone else out there working so hard to make sure everyday people like us stay warm.)

I've been out and about in the snowy, slushy weather all week... I woke up yesterday not feeling very well, but was thankful God gave me the strength to press through.

I had a list of things I wanted to catch up on today, but I think God is telling me to just rest!

And so, I'm sitting at home, thinking about how much more beautiful falling snow is when I don't have to go out into it! And now I'm contemplating fixing some hot cocoa...

How about all of you?

* What's the weather been like where you live, and how have you been coping? (Do you tend to get sick this time of year, etc.?)

* What do you like/dislike about this kind of weather?

* What are your favorite activities in the winter months?

I realize that it's also summer in some areas of the world, so we would love to hear what things are like wherever you are!

I live in PA. It's been a pretty mild winter so far truthfully, but still annoying. I would describe Winter as annoying. We typically lose power in the spring and fall luckily so *knock on wood* that's not an issue. I know some people can't afford heat. 😞 I get seasonal depression from lack of vitamin D I guess. I'm typically sick all winter but it's been better this year since I'm taking a high dose of vitamin c and elderberry and allergy meds. It's been a game changer for me.

I go into hibernation mode in the Winter from the early dark at 5. Mostly trying to work more and catch up on movies/books and playing video games with kids. So it's been okay this year. We haven't had any snow to actually play in for my kids so the cold 19 degrees is just for show. Definitely looking forward to the summer!

Arizona's great this time of year, at least where I am (near Phoenix): 60s° for the high, mid-30s for the low. Gawjus.

I was born and raised in the NYC / tristate area, and that is a true 4-season zone. Summers are hot and humid, winters cold and nasty. I remember battling snow being blown so hard that it fell almost parallel to the ground. Can't even look where you're going without getting snow in the eyes. Then there was the slipping and sliding on ice sheets on the concrete. I don't miss any of that.

But, what I do miss are the Christmases. When snow would fall on top of a bush covered in Christmas lights, the snow was illuminated from within, and by multiple colors. Of course, there were also snowball fights. For some reason, it feels quieter when there's snow on the ground, almost as if it absorbs ambient noises or something. It also keeps the riff-raff indoors.

I remember my then-GF (later wife) visiting me from Los Angeles one March (I think it was March??, maybe 1999??), and in the most adorable way I've ever seen, get the hugest kick out of seeing snow for the first time.

Generally, I don't like that kind of winter, but there are some good things about it. If it didn't last for several months, it might be more tolerable. Here in the southwest however, the winters are great. But, I do occasionally long to relive those snow-covered days I remember from years ago.

holding up well. winter can be a slight challenge for me because my favorite weather is 95 degrees. we get little of it here in the northeast. if your 'not feeling well" issue is a cold, get on a diet of white tea, honey & oranges. even though i work on snow plowing & roof snow removal, i dislike being outside in winter. i largely read, play drums, exercise, listen to rock & Christian music, jam with some guys, dine out, study antiques, buy silver & gold coins, study the Bible, watch some football which i now call "fightball", respond to CC, play chess, etc.

I'm sure nobody wants to hear how its summer here and I've been to the beach and walking outside and too hot to do any work so basically chilling with a good book/summer sounds with feet up in hammock or blanket under a tree.

I picked my first tomato the other day and go round barefoot.

As nice as that sounds......your missing out on winter. Summer will come but there is a lot of things about winter that are enjoyable. It's snowing right now, a good hot apple cider or hot chocolate would be really nice right about now lol.

Well youre missing out on summer right now, so winter will come here too except its wet and we don't get snow. Does it matter? If you stay in one place sometimes will get all four seasons in one day where I live.

Pre-flood, people lived in tropical climates. I do find it ironic that white people can't handle the tropics, but things like coffee, and chocolate and sugar can only grow in tropics which are deemed must haves in winter hence slavery. I don't know why I think about these things, but the earth is not flat like how some people believe but as long as other people are doing all the labour (coal mining, cutting down trees etc, storing everything at Cost-co) it's ok.

I think most people have been surviving on the contents of their freezer, and covid has had its effect on food supply. You don't know how spoiled people are until your big sis complains she isn't able to buy capsicum out of season lol

I am really sorry if I have offended you in any way. I did not realize you were from another country. I do not know anything about new Zealand. My apologies. Visiting somewhere like Scotland or Ireland is a place I would like to check out but as far as tropical goes.....I would visit a place tropical. There are so many things I have never seen before and think it would be interesting to visit such a place. I only meant that winter is enjoyable too. Who knows maybe your not late but we are early lol. If me being white offends you.....I'm sorry on that too, I didn't choose to be white, yet I am proud white American. If I was red yellow orange or blue ....... Well I'd be proud too. It's not about what color I am. If I bleed something other than red....... Well that might be a problem lol.
