The mailman told me today that my mail won't go out to be postmarked until Monday. 3 Day delay on mail delivery, first class stamp. So, the local post office no longer delivers Saturdays. I just hope my payment gets to the recipient next week so it's in on time.

The ballroom expense is completely paid for by private donors. No taxpayer dollars is going toward it.

I'm glad to hear that. There's been so much talk about the people not getting the auto mailed benefits that I was curious.
I haven't looked into that. But my planned retirement income will come from three sources.
1. Social Security
2. A pension
3. Investments/Annuity
I could lose any one of those, and the other two will sustain my wife and I.

I'm guessing I won't receive my retirement pay from my military career at the end of the month. Probably not my military disability pay either. I received my social security check. Thankfully I have savings enough to get me through however long this lasts.
I just checked with my DAV son. His military disability check are still getting through. I pray yours does, too.
I know someone receiving SSI.They called to get Medicare part A and were very specific in not wanting the costly part B.
Guess what? The agent added part B and filed the premium as applying to the SSI recipients income at $100 thousand. Which is impossible.
Now,he has $182.taken out of his SSI every month.
He filled out a document saying he did not want the part B and so far no change. Try to call the SS office and you'll be on hold most of the day due to the shutdown limiting staff.
It's a twisted system when criminals invading this country live like kings on our money because it's taken from us to feed them.
Illegals have no rights except to be shipped back to their homeland.

A friend is depleting his savings with a similar situation. He is trying to decide what insurance to keep as a diabetic. Do you have any idea where he should go for information on insurance questions?
I've learned that when the government reopens, that doesn't automatically mean benefits will be paid promptly. DHHR doesn't know when that will occur.
But on the lighter side....
Military retirees are receiving October checks. Mine is at my credit union and will be deposited on October 31. I received notice from SSA that my SS check will be deposited November 3.

I believe that unless you don't accept any medicare at all, you have to pay for part B. If the person wants part A, they'll have to pay for part B.
The way the Medicare system is organized a person almost has to purchase part B as soon as they're eligible. I've been paying for it but have never used it for years now. The problem is, if you don't pay for it and need it at some future date, then your premium will have an additional 10% added to it for each year that you didn't pay for medicare part b.
So is this EBT shutdown focused on democrats or welfare puppies who live on welfare? I thought it was sighted on the entitled single mothers but lately am hearing stuff that makes me wonder.
I do get SSDI but I worked my entire life. I didn't raise my kids on welfare so none of this should affect me. Besides, I'm 63 already so my guess is it wont affect me at all. But I don't know yet,, I havent been paid since they started saying this stuff..

i will pray for all suffering any kind of loss during the shutdown. i feel sorrow for all. & i hope events turn to the good for everyone soon. may you all receive God's blessings soon. why are all the ?'s about income reducing? my income rose. i have been semi-retired since about May this year. but lately, I've been working well compensated jobs, some of them being needful before the 1st snowfall. the same event occurred during covid. blessings from Jesus i attribute it to.
While this is true, I have learned it is a VERY unpopular sentiment to express. People just looooooove their complaining and resent any attempt to derail it.
