Please explain what you mean. Why would he need to call on the name of the Lord if water is the Lord?
Please explain what you mean. Why would he need to call on the name of the Lord if water is the Lord?
God told Peter that what he has cleansed, should not be called unclean. Please explain what you mean.
againIn obedience to water baptism we are buried with Him wherein our sins are destroyed. (be baptized in the name of Jesus FOR the remission of sins) It's not about the physical water it's about believing and being obedient to God's command; that is what brings about the spiritual reality He says it does.
I believe people have a hard time seeing this because they've never heard, or don't accept that water baptism is to be administered in the name of Jesus Christ.
Paul actually says, why continue in sin? Don't you know that your sin was dealt with upon obedience to the command to be baptized? As such, don't serve sin any longer.
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Rom 6:1-6
Peter's vision provided proof that God intended to make salvation available to all three groups of humanity; Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles. Why did Peter think what God had cleansed would still be unclean,?Did he not get the message?
I have examined the scripture many times over, It does not say what you want it to sayPlease take the time to examine the scripture again. Jesus Himself said the man laid a foundation UPON a rock. And we know that Jesus is the rock.
The rock is Jesus, NOT WHAT I DO.Also, keep in mind that Jesus expressed the need to lay a proper foundation immediately after telling those in Matthew 7:23 He never knew them.
So what is the foundation that must be laid upon Him? Jesus explained. Those who hear and do what He says are laying a proper foundation upon Him.
"Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation ON a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:47-49
Note that water baptism is only one of the foundational elements required to be saved. This is revealed in Hebrews. The comment "not laying AGAIN the foundation" speaks to the necessity to lay it at one point:
"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
And this will we do, if God permit." Heb 6:1-3
Amen, He said you are AREADY CLEAN by the WORD.God told Peter that what he has cleansed, should not be called unclean.
After God had cleansed those gentiles,Peter then decided to wash them.Did Peter not understand that God has already cleaned them?
I asked for an explanation of your comment:God told Peter that what he has cleansed, should not be called unclean.
After God had cleansed those gentiles,Peter then decided to wash them.Did Peter not understand that God has already cleaned them?
Are you saying Peter was not already saved?I asked for an explanation of your comment:
"Why would he need to call on the name of the Lord if water is the Lord?"
I am not adding to the word. Rightly dividing the word of truth requires gathering and study of all scripture relevant to a topic.again
I just look at what the word says
roman 6 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
it says i was baptized (immersed or placed into) Christ jesus, and was baptized (immersed or placed into) his death
I do not add water to the equation. Nor is water even referenced. It just says I was baptized INTO him
don;t add words to the Bible. Just take him as what is said, and you will not get it wrong.
You skirt the issue. Did Jesus or did He not say man is to lay a foundation ON a rock?I have examined the scripture many times over, It does not say what you want it to say
The rock is Jesus, NOT WHAT I DO.
Your trying to earn salvation and trying to replace the baptism of God with the baptism of man
they are two distinct baptisms. One saved, the other does not
Just like there are two distinct circumcision. One os of God one is not.
2 are or were commanded (the circumcision or baptism done by the hands of men)
2 are an automatic (the circumcision or baptism by the hand of God (col 2)
2 will saved (the one done or performed by God
2 are signs which point to what God did when you were saved Ithe one done by the hand of men)
chose the baptism of God. And stop commiting blasphemy,
sorry my friend, When you say romans 6 is water baptism. You’re adding to the word.I am not adding to the word. Rightly dividing the word of truth requires gathering and study of all scripture relevant to a topic.
According to the word of God, sins are remitted in obedience to the command to be water baptized in the name of Jesus. Paul's explanation in Roman's 6:3-6 indicates the baptism brought about destruction of one's sin. And having been obedient to Ananias' command to submit to baptism in order to wash away his sins Paul knew of what he spoke.
Sadly many refuse to accept the very scripture that has the ability to shine light on the truth.
The foundation is JESUSYou skirt the issue. Did Jesus or did He not say man is to lay a foundation ON a rock?
"Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation ON a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:47-49
Well, you are saying that if someone is Baptised in water then they are Baptised in Jesus name. Why would he need to call on the name of the Lord if he got baptized in Jesus?I asked for an explanation of your comment:
"Why would he need to call on the name of the Lord if water is the Lord?"
Which was Jesus' point all along. Relating to God on the basis of performance never allows the individual to enter into God's rest.Apparently, he did not love God above all... which is why it is said, you cannot serve both
God and mammon, for if you try to serve two masters, you will end up hating one and
loving the other, or being devoted to one and despising the other. So in actual fact
he had not kept all of the commandments, nor was he willing to give up his riches.
The baptism by the Spirit is what places an individual into Christ. This is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 12:13 and explained in Romans 6.If that were the case then Jesus would not have needed to Baptise(wash) them in the holy spirit.Water would have been sufficient .Same water the Pharisees used to wash with.
Scripture plainly states in the words of Jesus that they were already clean. Make of it what you will...If that were the case then Jesus would not have needed to Baptise(wash) them in the holy spirit.Water would have been sufficient .Same water the Pharisees used to wash with.
I understand that and agree. The baptism by the Spirit is what places an individual into Christ. This is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 12:13 and explained in Romans 6.
That's certainly one of the many benefits.I understand that and agree.
In Jesus Name
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you
Thats what you call being baptized In Jesus name.
We differ on what the estate of fallen man is. I believe the Bible speaks far more disparagingly of man than you.
“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.Scripture plainly states in the words of Jesus that they were already clean. Make of it what you will...
