What I think would really help is to have a program like Rumble where you can pay a fee to join a Locals groups. How it works:
Rumble allows for live streams, like YouTube.
You can actually chat live to whatever the discussion is for a certain time (notifies you of upcoming live stream). Then, you can all chat with that disucssion. It is not necessary to have a "host" to setup a live stream, but, someone would need to manage a topic for the stream and post it. Locals can be used or Rumble to chat live with each other.

To clarify how Rumble/Locals works better: What I meant is Rumble requires a "host' but the host doesn't have to actually be in person running the disussion. Also, Locals allows chatters to click on another person's chat and personally respond to just their chat. Others see it unless the chatter has "blocked" them for it can get trolls.
You are welcome. When you say chat, I do assume you mean the live chat. Your subsequent posts kind of brought that into question for me. The chat rooms usually do have a host of sorts but even when the chat function was fully up and running in days gone by, I only used it for a two week duration before taking a hiatus right after our platform change in 2018. In the following years it seems the chat program was not kept updated and was then removed from the google play store. Many work arounds were suggested and some were able to get it to function but that was years ago now. Much of that history could probably be found in the user2user forum threads. Most who post here do not use the live chat that much, it seems. Anyways, do you not see a link on the site's main page to the chat rooms?

I only get a prompt to login, then it says my password is wrong. When I try to reset it nothing happens (no reset link is mailed to my email...I checked spam folder too.)

But I do think it may still be in development stages. I don't know for sure.

OK, I just tried this. On top of main page click on Christian Chat App. You will then be directed to a page that will prompt you to enter your username and password. There is a chat room of some sorts but there is currently not a whole lot in it.

It's intended for desktop but you can actually use it on a phone or tablet
as well until you have the Android or iOS app (read below for more on that!)

As of TODAY, the Android version is now ready to launch! However, since it's
a new app, Google requires a 14-day private beta period before it can go public.
Donate now (or reply here if you're already a supporter) and join our private beta
(you'll get a special link to install the app directly from Google Play Store).

We're close to releasing the iPhone and iPad version, and likewise, it will be a private beta first, so message me here if you want to support that and get early access!

There’s no requirement for a formal “host” to start a live stream, but someone does need to create, manage, and post the discussion topic. Platforms like Locals or Rumble can be used to enable real-time chat and interaction.
